Park in the large car park at the swimming pool and stadium in Eybens.
(S/E) Begin a short climb from the car park, following the yellow markings that will be present throughout, but are very faint, to reach Rue Paul Mistral higher up and then walk along the castle's surrounding wall. Reach the end of this wall at a crossroads.
(1) Take the right-hand track (signposted Tavernolles) and follow it, keeping to the right at the crossroads serving the scattered houses. This will take you to another large crossroads in Tavernolles on the right bank of the Laprat stream.
(2) Cross the stream and turn left onto the street with the Auberge Napoléon opposite. Cross the D5 at the traffic lights with caution, as there is heavy traffic. Take the Route de Montavie opposite. Walk past the school and begin a steep climb. Leave the track on your right to reach a crossroads between the two power lines.
(3) Turn left onto the wide track, which is closed to motor vehicles, and continue up another steep climb, keeping to the right to reach a flat area. Continue to Fort de Montavie.
(4) Turn almost 180° to descend the forest track. After two large hairpin bends, rejoin the Route de Montavie at the power lines.
(5) Turn left (signposted Eybens Bourg) onto the wide path through the woods. Keep following the yellow markings, ignoring the paths on the right at each junction. You will reach the bottom of the descent on Avenue de Bresson.
(6) Turn right, cross Place de l'Église and then the D5 at the traffic lights (take care, heavy traffic) to reach the car park opposite (S/E).
