Start from the Cap d'Agde Tourist Office.
(S/E) Walk past the "Casino" and take the footpath towards a roundabout, then cross the road with care.
(1) Continue straight ahead along the pedestrian walkway, Avenue des Contrebandiers. You will arrive at the Boutellou roundabout.
(2) Take Avenue de la Butte straight ahead and continue straight on. You will reach another roundabout.
(3) Continue straight ahead. After the bend, head left along the edge of a car park to reach the start of the signposted “Domaine de Maraval” route.
(4) Follow the signposted route to the left (pedestrian symbol on the wooden posts). Continue to the junction of the circular route.
(5) Keep to the right. Continue walking and stay on the right to follow the route correctly. You can see the Étang du Bagnas on your right.
(6) Continue on your way and, at the junction, turn left. Follow the wire fence on the left. Then keep to the left. Along the way, take care at the various bends where visibility may be poor. You can admire Mont Saint-Loup all the way back.
(7) Turn right, then left again. Then pass a path ahead and keep to the right. You’ll come across an old steam engine as you reach the Domaine de Maraval, where exceptional views await you.
(8) Cross the site on the left to approach the road. Then turn left just before it. Pass an intersection leading to the houses, then continue left to return to the junction from the outward journey.
(5) Turn right and return to the starting point at the Tourist Office by following the reverse route of the outward journey. On the way back, you can take the cycle path from the Palais des Congrès to admire the viewpoint with a panoramic view of the two ancient volcanoes, Mont Saint-Loup and Mont Saint-Clair, as well as the port centre of Cap d’Agde (S/E).
