Starting from the François Verdier metro station.
(S/E) Head straight on along Rue de Metz; then take the second street on the right (Joseph de Malaret). Turn immediately left onto Rue d’Astorg and continue straight on.
(1) At the end of Rue d’Astorg, continue in the same direction along Rue Cantegril, which becomes Rue Antoine Mercié as it runs behind the Église des Augustins. Keep going straight on, passing through Place de la Bourse, until you reach Place de la Daurade and its basilica.
(2) From this square, head down to the banks of the Garonne and turn left onto them. Walk along the river, passing under the Pont Neuf, until you reach a flight of steps on the left.
(3) Take the steps and continue straight ahead along Rue du Pont de Tounis. Pass the Église de la Dalbade and the mansions on the street of the same name on your left. Behind the church, take Rue des Polinaires, walk along the left-hand side of the Marché des Carmes, continue straight ahead and you will arrive at the magnificent Place Mage.
(4) Continue in the same direction along Rue Merlane. You will come out onto Rue Fermat and turn right onto Place Sainte-Scarbes. Turn left onto Rue Ninau, which is lined with some very beautiful mansions.
(5) At the end of Rue Ninau, turn left onto Rue Montoulieu-Saint-Jacques and walk past the Palais Niel. Turn left into the car park under the trees to reach the entrance to the prefecture. Then turn right onto Rue Saint-Anne, which runs alongside the chapel of the same name and Saint-Étienne Cathedral, until you reach the François Verdier metro station (S/E).
