Description of the walk

Departure from Place de l'Église.

(S/E) Opposite the church, turn right into Rue Eva Thomé, ignoring the first street on the left.
At the fork marking the end of Rue Eva Thomé, turn left onto Rue Émile Faynot and join the Transsemoysienne.

(1) Continue in the same direction along the Semoy to the old Naux railway station.

(2) Go up to the left, pass in front of the mill and follow the course of the Gire stream until you reach a crossroads. At this point, turn right, ford the stream and shortly afterwards you will reach the Route Forestière du Chaufour.

(3) Turn left until you reach the point where the forest road makes a sharp left turn. At this bend, two paths branch off to the right; take the left one.
At the next fork, do not go down to the right. Then go around a hairpin bend to the left and, shortly afterwards, take a path to the right. Climb up to the Ruisseau du Nantanru.

(4) Cross the stream. On the right, a small, poorly marked path leads to a fairly uncrowded viewpoint. The round trip is easy.
Once back on the path, continue along the original route, ignoring the paths that branch off to the left. The path curves sharply to the right, taking you to the other side of the Nantanru valley and joining the GR®.
Turn right onto theGR® to reach the Liry viewpoint (lovely view with Nohan at the bottom of the valley).

(5) From the viewpoint, retrace your steps and follow theGR® to the Route Forestière de la Dauphinée (tarmac road). Turn right to reach the Ancienne Maison Forestière du Champ Bernard.

(6) Descend to the right on the Route Forestière de Nohan to Roche Jojo, a man-made passage through the rock.

(7) Continue along the forest road for about 100 metres and turn right onto a small hollow path (yellow markings). Follow the steep descent to reach the Nohan wash house.

(8) Continue along the path to the Transsemoysienne, turn onto Chemin de la Fontaine opposite and follow Grand Rue to the church.

(9) Take Rue de l'Église to reach the RD31. Turn right and continue to the Pont de la Semoy bridge.

(10) Cross the Semoy. Turn left after the bridge and immediately turn right onto a small path that climbs the embankment and joins a sunken lane.
Turn right, leaving the marked path that branches off to the right shortly afterwards, and join the Chemin de Gespunsart (formerGR®16).

(11) Continue in the same direction, opposite, passing a water reservoir and then an isolated house, until you reach the Nabruay stream.

(12) Continue in the same direction, leaving the road that branches off to the right at the top of the small hill. Join the RD31. Descend on the left towards the Thilay bridge. Cross it and join the Place de l'Église (S/E).

A superb hike that we have done several times, with beautiful views and scenery.
The only downside is that the path between points 3 and 4 no longer exists. We had to find the path higher up before reaching Champ Bernard, climbing up the hillside.
I'll do it again anyway.

Superb hike! The landscapes are varied, you can relax to the sound of the stream, and we saw a few squirrels. We didn't meet many people and were able to enjoy the small viewpoint for our lunch break in complete tranquillity. A pleasant route, fairly accessible even for occasional hikers.
Worth doing again and again!

A very pleasant hike, mostly in the forest, but varied nonetheless. No real difficulties (a ford across the Gire river in winter: you get your shoes wet and the descent to the Nohan wash house requires caution. Two small clarifications regarding the description (but minor details...): point 3: after passing the hairpin bend to the left, take a path on the right, I would say "shortly after" rather than "immediately after"; point 4 after returning from the viewpoint, you come to a path coming from the left, which you take to the right. Quite obvious, but missing from the description.

A lovely walk, mostly through woodland, with several points of interest (the Gire mill, a viewpoint, a wash house, etc.). Thank you.
