Description of the walk

Reach Ceillac via the D60 from the Maison du Roi crossroads. Park near the Baladins Lodge.
(S/E) Then cross Ceillac and arrive at the church square.

(1) Turn right onto theGR®5-58, which heads northeast. Leave the track that goes into the Cristillan valley and turn left onto the path (GR® sign). Join the upper track and continue to the hamlet of Le Villard.

(2) Take thePR® (yellow markings) on the left where a sign indicates La Clapière. This slightly uphill path leads to theGR®58at an altitude of 2014 metres.

(3) Take theGR® trail on the right towards Col de Bramousse. Begin an easy climb through alpine pastures to reach the pass.

(4). Take the path on the right, leaving theGR®, which leads to the Chambrettes ridge. You will reach a crossroads.
At the first crossroads, keep right to reach the viewpoint.

(5). Return via the same route until you reach the 2014 crossroads.

(3) Stay on theGR® to descend steeply into the forest and reach the western district of Ceillac (Le Queyras).
Stay on theGR® trail which runs alongside the stream, reaching the Sainte-Cécile church next to the cemetery.

(6) Take the road on the left to return to Ceillac and then to the car park (S/E).

Notes

There are no water sources or shelters on this route. However, there are large open spaces suitable for picnics, particularly the one a few metres before the viewpoint.

Worth a visit

Here, you have everything to see. This relatively low-altitude viewpoint (around 2,300 metres) nevertheless offers a remarkable view of the legendary Queyras mountain, La Fonct Sante. How beautiful this mountain is in the south of this area! Its harmonious shape encourages you to conquer it, but to do so, you must take the southern slope, which is opposite the one we are looking at. The climb in summer is a little tricky as it takes you over scree. Its neighbour to the right, the Pointe de la Saume, which is about 300m lower, is much more accessible.
If you turn around, you will see Les Écrins in the distance, dominated by Pelvoux. If you are feeling brave, instead of following the return route, take the path on the right at the crossroads to climb up to the Chambrettes ridge. You will then pass the optical observatory and Col Fromage before returning to Ceillac via theGR®5-58.

Always be cautious and plan ahead when you're outdoors. Visorando and the author of this route cannot be held responsible for any accidents occurring on this route.

Beautiful hikes that allow you to discover superb views, sometimes obscured by stormy weather.
For the descent from the pass to Ceillac, we took the GR trail, which has been altered following work carried out by park officials to combat erosion. The trail is very beautiful and presents no difficulty.

Yes, sorry, when you reach the Bramousse Pass, you have to turn right at the Col du Fromage and then right again after a few metres.

Hello, and thank you for your comment. However, you must be mistaken about the Bramousse Pass.

The hike is beautiful and well marked at the start; no major difficulties; however, when you reach the Col du Fromage junction, you need to understand that you have to turn right in this direction and then turn right again a few metres further up, as there are no signs for LE BELVEDERE and you have to guess a little...

Hike done last year at the same time... in the snow up to the Bramousse Pass, with the GR markings barely visible above the snow, we couldn't make it to the viewpoint. Never mind, we went back and this time there were no problems, the route is very easy. The view is magnificent with the beautiful autumn colours.

A magnificent hike to be continued via the optical signal, the Col de Fromage pass and back to Ceillac.
