Description of the walk

Departure from the car park of the Les Baladins lodge in Ceillac.
(S/E) Cross the D60 and reach the junction of theGR®5andGRP® trails of the Tour de la Fonct Sante.

(1) Ignore these two trails and take the one opposite through the forest, markedPR® (yellow). Climb quickly through the Bois de Laurette before crossing the Bois du Moulin. You will then rejoin theGRP® de la Fonct Sante.

(2) Take it to the left and continue climbing until you reach the Belvédère de la Mourière viewpoint.

(3) Change direction completely, heading due west on a virtually flat section for about 1.5km. Take care in wet weather as the path crosses two areas of very smooth rock slabs. You will arrive at the Andrevez sheepfold.

(4) Leave theGRP® and take the path that runs along the left bank of the Vallon des Pelouses torrent. Join a dirt track.

(5) Leave it and continue right on the path to reach the ruins of Quigoulet.

(6) Continue downhill to the left bank of the Cristillan until you reach the Clot des Oiseaux sign.

(7) Stay on the path parallel to the D60, begin a short climb, then continue on flat ground to reach the Marmotte chalet and the car park (S/E).

Worth a visit

For the more adventurous, there are two options for extending this hike:
1 - Continue on theGRP® to Pic d'Escreins,
2 - Before the sheepfold, take the path on the left (signposted) that leads to Pointe de la Saume.

For trekkers:
The 3-day Tour de la Font Sante route is ideal:
Stage 1: Ceillac - Refuge Basse Rua via Pic d'Escreins
Stage 2: Refuge Basse Rua - Maljasset via Col des Houerts
Stage 3: Maljasset - Ceillac via Col Girardin
The route map can be found here
Finally, for the more adventurous, plan to climb Font Sante from Basse Rua, but this is reserved for experienced hikers as it is off-trail and rockfalls are frequent.

it's a beautiful hike, mostly through the forest, but with a very wild spot at the sheepfold.
there is a beautiful view of the Ecrins mountains from the lookout point.

A beautiful route throughout. Please note: towards the end, you descend below Ceillac, which means you finish by climbing a little over 100 metres. On arrival in Ceillac, the new biathlon stadium (roller skis), which is "off limits to pedestrians", has taken up part of the trail without providing a new one, so you have to go where you can, which can be problematic during training.

A beautiful climb through the forest to the Mourière viewpoint (magnificent view).
Nice picnic at the foot of the climbing cliff where the stream originates just after La Bergerie.
Return via the footpath and forest track.
The last part along the stream is a little less pleasant.
Otherwise, the mileage seems to be underestimated (16 km).
Very beautiful hike.

Very beautiful hike, except for the very end (return to Ceillac), which was less interesting.

Absolutely magnificent route. What a reward to arrive at the Mouriere viewpoint after the challenging climb, and the rest of the hike was perfect.

Beautiful uphill hike through the woods. Magnificent view from the Mourière viewpoint. Pretty sheepfold and very beautiful climbing site. I would say it's more like 17 or 18 kilometres. Return through the superb Ceillac woods.
