Nice hike. Not too crowded on the way up to the summit. One small downside: not much of a view because it's so dense in the forest. An impressive sight at the summit, 100,000 metres above the trailhead. After the cable cars arrive, there are fewer people. The last part of the hike is much quieter. A pleasant hike that's not too long.

Less popular than the Feldberg (which has become a bit of a tourist factory, with very expensive parking - between €12 and €15 - and tarmac paths for pushchairs and bicycles, which go downhill very quickly, so pedestrians please park! only the descent to the Feldberg lake is interesting and magnificent, but surprisingly, there is no signposting before the end); the Belchen is less popular, with beautiful signposted paths and a superb 360° view from the summit.

Just to say that the Belchen is the third and not the second highest peak in the Black Forest; the second highest is the Herzogernhorn, which is one metre higher.
Sincerely
