Start from the village of Neuenweg, at the small car park in front of the town hall (Rathaus).
(S/E) Head east along the Hauweg via the tarmac road which climbs and becomes a stony path (marked with a Blue Diamond).
(1) At the end of the track, at the “Neuenweg Hau” bus stop, cross the road to take the path that climbs through the meadows, still following the Blue Diamond, then enter the forest without leaving the path.
(2) At Böllener Eck, go through the gate and enter the pasture (watch out for cow dung)
Follow the path uphill.
(3) At the horizontal white-red-white sign marked “1”, head up to the right; the path is marked in two ways (horizontal white-red-white and Blue Diamond).
From here, the path narrows and alternates between straight stretches and zigzags through forest and meadow. Do not stray from the path as you are in a protected natural area.
(4) Hohfelsen: Enjoy the view by climbing onto the rock overlooking the valley.
Once you have entered the forest through a gate with a wire mesh, you are in the Belchen area.
Continue the climb to the Belchenhaus.
(5) Turn right onto the path marked with a Yellow Diamond pointing towards Belchengipfel (summit).
This is a 1.2 km circular walk (Rundweg).
(6) Once at the summit, enjoy the 360° view of the Black Forest, the Rhine Valley and the Vosges mountains. Continue the circular route on the "Rundweg Belchen".
(5) Back at the Belchenhaus, turn right onto the Red Diamond Westweg trail signposted Hohkelch.
A sign indicates that the path is closed in winter due to avalanches.
(7) Enjoy the view at the Rapsfelsen signpost. The path gradually turns northwards until it reaches a hairpin bend. Continue southwards to a crossroads.
(8) Turn right, heading west, at the Red Diamond signpost indicating Neuenweg 5km and take the small path that enters the forest.
The path becomes very steep, running along the cliff face on the left. Please take care, as some sections can be difficult and slippery in wet weather.
(9) At Lünzmann Platz, a few metres to the right of the path, enjoy the sweeping view over the Münstertal valley. Return to the forest path and turn right on the descent. Continue to follow the Red Diamond.
(10) At the Richtstatt wooden hut, turn left (Yellow Diamond markings) towards Neuenweg (3 km). Follow the Grundwaldweg southwards. It is marked by both the Yellow Diamond and the horizontal Red-White-Red markings.
Once out of the forest, at the football pitch, you’ll come to a tarmac road.
(11) Turn left; the road leads straight down into the village (S/E).
