Description of the walk

Start from Rue des Chaumes in the village of Perreuse (please note that Perreuse is a village associated with Treigny).

(S) Head due west along Rue des Chaumes, then turn right onto the tarmac road and, at the junction with the main road, take the path leading down to the Marlée washhouse.

(1) Carry on and, at the first path, turn right to climb up to the hamlet of Les Gourleaux. At the junction of five paths, take the second on the left. When you reach the junction with the tarmac road, turn right.

(2) Walk past the well situated in the middle of a small square. Continue for 50 metres and cross the road to take a stony path opposite. Follow it, ignoring the path on the left to continue straight on along the grassy path. Walk between the fields and a hedge (the path is sometimes less distinct) then enter a wood via a stony path, which narrows towards the end. At the top, on the left, an old stone once supported a cross.

(3) Take the path on the right until you reach the next T-junction. Turn left to rejoin the road at a bend.

(4) Walk down into the hamlet and, after the first house on the right, follow the stony path to the Croix Saint-Nicolas (located on the left at the junction).

(5) Turn right and follow the signs for the No. 7 route. Leave this path at the junction with the road that descends to the right towards the Source du Loing (a return walk of approximately 600 metres is possible).

(6) Cross the D7 (take care) and, 50 metres above this junction, turn left onto a grassy path leading to the hamlet of Montreparé.
Head down the tarmac road and turn left in the village of Chappe (fire hydrant). Head for a return trip to the spring and the Pisserotte washhouse (signposted on wooden posts).

Signs on wooden posts and plaques engraved with “Les Sources”
(7) After taking a break (bench and a glance at the three springs and the wash house), turn back. Back on the road, continue downhill and, 100 metres after the last farm shed on the right, turn right onto the path which leads to a road; take this road on the left.
Cross the D6. At the next junction of paths, turn right to pass in front of the Jarloy spring and washhouse.

(8) Follow the path uphill and continue along the street, turning left twice. Ignore the next left-hand street and enter a small cluster of houses once more.

(9) On leaving the village, after the last house on the left, take the dirt track to rejoin the D6. Stay on this road as it climbs to the village of Lainsecq (E).

Notes

This is a one-way walk, not a circular one. Plan accordingly, for example:

  • Leave one car at the starting point and one at the finish).
  • Set off in the opposite direction along the same route; the views are completely different.
  • Return via this route by walking it in the opposite direction (6.7 km).

There are numerous springs along this route; water is often plentiful but not drinkable. Part of the route is very sunny.

Worth a visit

Fountains, springs and crosses offer excellent photo opportunities, depending, of course, on the available light.
Magnificent pollarded trees (or pollarded saplings) provide the perfect backdrop for letting your mind wander and for taking photos!
Do visit the village of Perreuse (information available at the Treigny Tourist Office).

Hello chogui,
No, not a wind farm – according to the information we’ve received, it’s technically impossible to install wind turbines at this site. In my opinion, it’ll be very useful and, above all, great fun; the project is well under way...

Hello chogui,
Glad to see you’re enjoying the area. Well, the idea of combining it with another route for the return journey.
Perhaps a little scoop: at the spot where this panorama was taken, a lovely surprise is in store over the coming months. I’ll keep you in suspense – I’ll let you know and add it to the relevant walks. It’ll certainly be a good opportunity to describe a POI for this spot.

As this walk didn’t go back to the starting point
I combined it with the walk “from Perreuse to Lainsecq
via the mill and La Guirtelle”
The scenery is magnificent!!!!
You pass through some typical hamlets that are absolutely beautiful!!!!!
Don’t miss all the wash houses and springs....
At the transmission relay station, the 360-degree view is well worth it!!!!
Definitely worth doing again in the autumn.
