From Urrugne or Ascain, climb up to Ibardin and its ventas, then descend on the Spanish side.
When you reach Vera, turn left towards Lizuniaga on the NA-4410. After 4.5 km, turn left (signposted Iratxeko Bepea).
Go through a cattle grid and then turn left at the crossroads (signposted Casa Rural). Follow this road until the tarmac surface gives way to a track, continue for 300 m on the track to reach the starting point.
(S/E) Continue along the track, keep left at the fork and climb the hairpin bends until you reach a water reservoir on the left.
(1) In the right-hand bend, leave the track and head opposite (north-west) towards the summit of Petite Rhune. There is no path, but you can climb straight up to the ridge and then turn left towards the summit, marked by a dry stone building.
(2) Descend south-east along the ridge line to the pass, going around the Zizkuitza summit on the right.
(3) Descend northwards and then turn left onto the northern slope of Petite Rhune (Larrun Ttiki in Basque).
The path arrives at a pass between Larrun Ttiki and Sugizeaga. Continue to the right, bypassing Sugizeaga to the south along the forest to the Yasola venta.
Be careful, as the path descends steeply towards the venta and its route varies depending on erosion.
(4) Take a sharp left turn towards the south-east. The path crosses the forest, making a first circular loop that arrives below the Aritzmendi summit.
(5) Continue south-east on the path, which then turns south to return to the car park (S/E).
