The car park is located on the road to Chamrousse resort, just after the Hôtel des Seiglières on the left. There is a forest road and hiking signs.
(S) The route starts on the forest road, which is almost horizontal. The route is well marked with yellow and red markings and signposts. Leave the first track on the right, then the path crosses a first stream and the slope becomes steeper. The climb is through the forest on a good path, but it crosses several ravines with streams. These crossings can be very tricky at the beginning of the season (May to June) in case of snow and may require the use of ice axes or even ropes.
After about an hour, you will arrive at the Oursière waterfall.
(1) After the waterfall, the path winds up the left bank of the torrent and emerges at the bottom of a small valley. This fairly short section allows you to catch your breath or even take a break, as the rest of the route is quite challenging.
(2) The route arrives at a fork, with a path on the left leading to the La Pra refuge, and our route continuing to the right. The climb is now steep, with a 200-metre elevation gain to be covered at this pace.
Once you reach an altitude of around 1,800 metres, the slope becomes gentler and the hike becomes much more enjoyable. The setting of the Belledonne massif gives a feeling of high mountains. The trail heads south and joins theGR®549, which crosses the Belledonne massif. At the fork, take a right (left will take you back to the La Pra refuge), continuing south. There is still about 100 metres of elevation gain to go before you reach the magnificent setting of the Robert lakes, where a break is well deserved.
(3) The circuit now begins its descent, but first you will need to pass above one of the lakes, take the path on the right before descending to the lake shore, heading towards the Brèche Robert Sud and the Lac des Pourettes. The path overlooks one of the lakes until you reach the breach, where you can enjoy views of Grenoble and the Chartreuse mountains.
(4) Once past Lac des Pourettes, follow the signs for Col de l'Aiguille and then Casserousse. This is a long descent through the forest along the famous Olympic trail.
(5) At the bottom of this descent, you will come to a car park. Take the forest track on the right, which descends gently until it crosses the Rd111, which climbs up to the ski resort.
(6) At this point, leave the path and take the road downhill until you reach your starting point (E).
