In Oloron, head towards Somport on the N134. After Bedous, head towards Lescun on the D239. Immediately turn left towards Lhers on the D339. There are several junctions. Always follow the Hers. Pass to the right of the stopover lodge and continue to the Aumet car park.
(S/E) Follow the track after the car park. Head south-south-west and arrive at the Cabane de Pourcibo, on a bend.
(1) On the ascent, avoid taking shortcuts. Continue along the track which, after a wide circular loop, leads to the Cabane det Caillau.
(4) End of the track. Signposts. Follow the signs for Refuge d'Arlet towards the east.
(5) The path veers south-east. After several hairpin bends, you reach a junction.
(6) Signposts. Ignore the path on the left leading to the huts and the Col de Souperret.
Continue due south along the path leading to the Col de Saoubathou and the Refuge d'Arlet. The climb is steady. You will come to the remains of a fence and continue to a grassy clearing (1820 m).
(7) Leave the path that continues due south towards the Col de Saoubathou and head left, north-east. The path is not always clearly marked but on a clear day there is no problem: head towards a rocky outcrop and pass it on the right. A few more metres and you will reach the Lac de Puits d'Arious.
A lovely little lake where it’s nice to stop and rest for a while.
(8) The return journey follows the same path in the opposite direction.
(5) Just before reaching the Cabane det Caillau, at an altitude of 1,480 metres, follow the path to the right which joins the track.
(3) Follow the track for a few metres and cut across again at the bend via a path that rejoins the track. Follow the track again until the bend
(2) Turn right onto the Sentier de Caillau through the grass and rejoin the track at the Cabane de Pourcibo.
(1) Follow the track back in the opposite direction to (S/E).
