At the Hautacam ski resort, take the track that leads to the Col de Moulata.
For low-clearance cars, stop at the car park at Col de Tramassel or Buraou at the end of the asphalted section (inn and observation dome).
(S/E) At the end of the car park, take the slightly downhill path on the right.
(1) Take the path on the left that leads to the Hourquette d'Ouscouaou. It follows a contour line for 400 metres, then climbs in successive steps to a pass.
Leave the path on the right that descends to Lac d'Isaby.
(2) From the Hourquette, you can see the Pic du Midi de Bigorre and the Pic du Montaigu. Below is Lac d'Ourrec. The classic hike to Lac d'Ourrec is a loop from Chiroulet in the Lesponne valley.
From La Hourquette, follow a path that runs along the ridge to the south and joins the path coming from below.
Follow this well-marked path slightly on the other side until you reach a very steep slope.
(3) Climb this steep section, which is short but has an average gradient of over 40%. You will arrive at a grassy plateau. The trail goes around a small hill (altitude 2086) and reaches a gap.
(4) Change slopes and continue along the path on the hillside, which runs alongside the cliff.
Caution: there is a short section where you may need to use your hands, but it is not difficult.
The lake comes into view at the last moment.
(5) Arrive at Lac de Bassias or Lac de Couey Seque.
Return to the car park (S/E) by the same route.
