Coming fromBrignoles and at the exit of Flassans-sur-Issole, continue for 500 m on the DN7 and turn left onto Chemin de Carteresse for 500 m. You will reach a crossroads; you can park on the side of the road. The hike starts here.
(S/E) Turn right onto Chemin de Clauge. Then cross the stream to reach a three-way junction at the end of the vineyard.
(1) Here, do not turn right onto the path marked by a green letterbox, but turn left instead. Walk along the vineyard, following the yellow markings, to reach a crossroads where there is a cistern.
(2) Turn left for about 100 metres, then left again to take the path marked with an arrow: Carteresse 2.5 km. This leads to a fairly wide track. Walk along another vineyard, then make a circular loop to the left to reach a three-way junction.
(3) Take the track on the right that enters the undergrowth and is marked in yellow. Continue until you reach a T-junction.
(4) Turn right onto the track marked in yellow, where there is a cattle grid on your right. Join a wider track at a bend marked by a sign: Les Billettes.
(5) Continue left, down a very slight slope, until you reach a bend in the road.
(6) Turn left onto the tarmac road marked by a sign: Le Défens 2.4 km and continue for 900 m until you reach a junction between the tarmac road and a track on the right.
(7) Turn right onto this track and begin a short climb. Pass under the power lines, then follow the path around a right-hand bend. Continue slightly downhill until you reach a DFCI water tank at the next crossroads. Keep left for about 100 metres until you reach the crossroads marked by a signpost for 40 Chemin de Clauge.
(8) Take the downhill track on the left, ignoring the paths on the left and right, to reach the car park at the crossroads (S/E).
