Starting point at the Mouches mill, with parking available for several cars.
(S) At the mill, cross the Vauvre via the footbridge. Take the path on the left (private but accessible). Climb up to the right to the village of Fletz.
At the tarmac road, turn left, then continue along the dirt track. Cross a small wood, and when you reach the tarmac road again, turn left to the hamlet of Cosset (ruins of the old Cosset mill, not very visible).
Continue along the road to the right, then follow the dirt track.
(1) After 300 metres, at the end of a pond, take the first path on the left which leads to the banks of the Vauvre (private but accessible path).
Follow the Vauvre and cross a series of quarries (the rock extracted from these quarries was used to build the railway line that you will soon cross).
Continue along the path through the woods and turn right, following the old railway line.
At the crossroads, turn left, then descend to the road.
Turn left onto the road.
(2) After crossing the Vauvre at the Ribes mill, take the path that climbs up to your left. Continue until you reach the tarmac road again.
(3) Turn left and pass through the hamlet of Villemort with its old castle.
Then cross the railway line (which has disappeared) again at the gatekeeper's cottage, which was actually the Chassignolles station.
Stay on the road and walk along the Villemort pond.
(4) At the crossroads, go straight on to reach first the hamlet of Les Mouches (at the crossroads, do not go down towards Les Mouches) and then the hamlet of La Rillerie.
At La Rillerie, turn left and head back down towards La Vauvre until you reach the Mouches mill, your starting point.
A very pleasant short route: gently undulating terrain offering scenic views, a route following a small, unspoilt river in the shade of woods – everything you need for a peaceful stroll far from the hustle and bustle of city life.
