From Magny to Chassignolles, between heritage and pastureland

Park in the Salle des Fêtes car park and follow the yellow markings Between heritage and pasture (long version via Chassignolles).

(S/E) From the car park, head south along the Route des Vigneaux and follow it to the end, passing Rue du Chemin creux, Rue des Vignes and Rue du Noyer in turn. It then branches off to the west.

(1) Cross the Route de Bellevue to join the Chemin de l’Épinat, heading south-west. Follow it to the end, then take the small road on the right and pass through the hamlets of Le Châtaignier Carabin and Le Laquais. You will arrive at the hamlet of Le But.

(2) Take care as this is a junction where several walking routes meet. Continue straight ahead.
Leave the small road on the left (short version returning to Le Magny), then at the crossroads, take the right-hand path towards Les Chattons: follow the yellow markings for the ‘La campagne au fil des siècles’ route.

(3) You will arrive in Chassignolles, opposite the War Memorial and the church. Turn right and pass the Maison des Traditions to reach the Town Hall (signpost for the Chassignolles walking trails).
Opposite the church, turn right onto Ruelle du XXIe siècle to go round it and arrive at Place du XXIe siècle.
Turn left onto Rue des Traditions, then right onto Rue de Célestine.

Turn immediately right into Rue des Galoches and continue along Rue du Mareuil until you reach a small grassy square with stone benches and tables. Turn left onto a path leading uphill through the woodland (signpost with the yellow markings for the ‘La campagne au fil des siècles’ route). At the end, take Rue de Célestine on the right until you reach the water tower. Turn left to follow the botanical trail until you reach a cross path.

(5) Then turn right, following the yellow markings for ‘Entre patrimoine et pâturage’. Follow the farm track to the hamlet of Boudan. Take the road to the right, then the one to the left for 60 m. Turn right onto a wide, tree-lined track suitable for vehicles, which descends to a cross-path (^GR®® 46).

(6) At the bottom of the descent, turn right onto this^GR®®46(farm track). After 300 m, go up a grassy path on the right. At the end, take the small road on the left.

(7) In Poumoué, turn left onto the access road to the farmhouse inn, then continue along the farm track. After a right-hand bend, head down the sunken path on the left. Cross the Couarde via a footbridge, then head back up the forest track to^{the GR®®46}.

(8) Follow this^GR®® to the left until you reach the small road leading to La Loge.

(9) Leave the^GR®® on your left and the road on your right to reach two houses 50 m to the north-west. Take the path and, at the next junction, head down the left-hand side.

(10) At the bottom of the descent, continue to the right for 50 m then take the farm track to the left.
At the next junction, go straight on. Cross the Couarde again via a footbridge and reach the Espace des Ossans with its fountain and pond. Join the^GR®®46by continuing along the access road.

(11) Follow the road to the right, then head right towards the Fontaine Saint-Rémy. With your back to the fountain, climb the steps up to the priory, cross the D 73 with care and walk along the right-hand side of the cemetery. After visiting the priory and its church, follow Rue Principale westwards to return to the car park where you started (S/E).

Make sure you wear sturdy shoes and trousers: the terrain varies and the paths are grassy and sometimes damp
