The start is in Ascain, at the car park just before the quarries.
(S/E) Take the path that starts at the sign at the back of the car park on the right. At the start, it runs parallel to the road. After a left-hand bend, it joins a wide path which you take on the right. Ten metres further on, leave this path and take the one on the left. Follow it for 600 metres until you reach a hairpin bend.
(1) Immediately after the hairpin bend, take a stony path that climbs to the right. You will see a small pass in front of you, which you will need to cross. Before you get there, leave a path on your left that leads to a sheepfold. At a fork, take the path on the left that heads towards the top of the small pass. Follow a pleasant path with a beautiful view. This path ends 700 metres after the pass.
(2) Turn completely left (south) and follow a path that climbs quite steeply up some rocks. Then follow a path that is first earthy and then grassy with a stream running through it. You will arrive at the Ihizelai plateau.
(3) At the pass, turn right immediately. A small cairn marks the start of a path that follows the ridge. Pass a ruin on your right. The path heads towards a pile of rocks, which you pass on the right. Pass several cairns. You will arrive at a table and benches carved into the rock. Very beautiful view.
(4) Follow the grassy path south-east, which runs along the ridge for a long time, slightly below. Rejoin the ridge and squeeze between the rocks. Pass a tiny enclosure with a statue of the Virgin Mary set in the rock. The path continues on the other side to a hut.
(5) Descend a grassy path to the Col des Trois Fontaines. Take a path south into the forest.
(7) Join the Chemin de la Rhune, continue south and climb the switchbacks to the summit.
(6) Descend by the same path.
(7) Turn right into the forest, following the white arrows on the trees and stones. Follow these arrows for a short distance. They turn right: continue straight ahead on a wide path covered with pine needles. The path becomes narrower and winds its way between young pine trees. You will arrive at theGR®10.
(8) Cross theGR®10. The trail passes to the left of an enclosure and to the right of a watering trough. Descend a grassy path. Pass between two large rocks and continue on a stony trail. Ford a small stream (no difficulty) and continue to the junction withthe PR® du Miramar.
(9) Follow this wide path, generally heading north.
(1) Turn right and take the same path as on the way there to return to the car park (S/E).
