Park after the Basque pelota school in the Route d'Arraioa car park before crossing the Galardiko Erreka.
(S/E) From the Chourrio car park in Ascain, follow the road to the east on the left.
(1): After about 500 m, at the junction with the Arraioa lodge, turn left.
After about 500 m, turn right and continue straight ahead into the Estebenenea road cul-de-sac. At the end of the road, take the path that climbs uphill on the left.
(2) At the crossroads, continue straight ahead for about 100 m and pass the Martinhaurren barn.
(3) About 50 m further on, turn left downhill (towards the stream). At the bottom of the descent, at the stream, turn left. Immediately after, leave this track and take a small path on the left that runs along the barbed wire fence. Further on, after crossing the stream, turn right to follow it.
(4) At a fork, don't miss the path that descends to the right. At the bottom, after crossing the stream, climb up the other side and continue north along the stream. The path makes a large loop to the right. At the bottom, cross the Uzkaingo stream and turn right uphill.
(5) After about 250m, take a path on the left that descends to a beautiful pool under a waterfall. Retrace your steps, find the path and take it on the left. Further on, at a ford, turn right and 50m further on, take a path on the right heading south-west that climbs up a rather unpleasant stony track. Continue climbing and further on, rejoin the route you took on the way up and follow it for 50 m.
(3) At the ford, continue to the left, heading east. After a large loop, you will arrive at the Sentier des Cochons, at the Croix du Jubilé (elevation 219). Take this track uphill to the left for about 500 metres.
(6) At the crossroads, take the narrower track straight ahead, heading south towards Suhalmendi.
(7) At the top of the climb, take the path opposite that climbs to the summit of Suhalmendi (altitude 301 m). From there, descend via a footpath towards the south to rejoin the path you descended 100 m further on. At the pass, take the path to the south-west on the right. At the summit, pass the Redoute de la Convention at around 265m (often hidden by vegetation). Turn right north-west and descend for a little over 1km towards the roads.
(8) From the car park, not far from the road, head uphill opposite. Reach the Nausien farm, go around it on the left and climb to the top of the Esnaur (elevation 272). From the summit, descend via the obvious path. Reach a road and follow it.
(1) At the Arraioa lodge, turn left and descend to reach the car park (S/E).
