The Villefranchoise walk and the large farm

The route starts at the doctor’s (public) car park.

(S/E) Head due north for a few metres to reach the D 943 without crossing it. Turn left onto the D 943, which is uphill, and take the next small lane on the left (Rue de l’Église Saint Eutrope). Follow this lane until you reach Rue de Charny.

(1) Cross with care and head right, ignoring the street on the right immediately after. Continue slightly to the left along Rue Adeline until you reach the D943 near the cemetery. Cross with great care and turn right, keeping well to the left-hand verge, until you find, a little further on in the right-hand bend, a flight of steps on the left between numbers 8 and 10.

(2) Go down the stairs on the left and you will reach a small road immediately afterwards. Cross the road and head right until you reach the D18 (Rue de Villeneuve). Turn left onto the D18 and continue to the next path on the left.

(3) Turn left onto this track. Immediately after, follow it to the right. Begin a gentle descent. A little further on, take the ford on the right-hand side if there is too much water on the central path. Continue until you reach a road a little further on. Cross it and head right until you reach the D18.

(4) Cross with great care and head straight ahead along a road towards Les Écharlis. Continue slightly uphill. A little further on, ignore a road on the right. Continue straight on, passing Les Lindets. Just after the last houses, the road becomes a track. Follow it to the next track on the right.

(5) Turn right and walk a good hundred metres to the four-way crossroads. Turn right until you reach a wide cross-path. Turn right; shortly afterwards, cross the hamlet of Les Écharlis, pass under the archway, ignore a road on the right that goes uphill just after this, and continue straight on until the next path on the right.

(6) Cross to the right and head straight ahead. Continue uphill until you reach a road. Turn left and follow it to the end. Continue straight on along a track and, immediately after, take the track on the right which leads to a four-way crossroads. Take the track furthest to the left and, at the very end, you will reach the fire station.

(7) Immediately afterwards, turn left for a few metres, then take the small path on the right which descends between the trees and joins the D 943 at the bottom. Cross with care and head left. Descend, and at the bottom you will reach the starting point on the right. (S/E)
