By car: drive through the centre of Vaugneray towards Col de Malval via Rue de Malval. Pass the statue of the Virgin Mary on your left and, after 60 metres, you will find the car park entrance via a gate on the right, just before Rue Claude Cros.
(S/E) Return to the entrance gate, turn right and go up Rue Claude Cros. At the top, at the fork, leave Rue du Pantin on your right. Continue along Rue Claude Cros on the left until you reach a crossroads (elevation 452).
(1) At the La Maletière sign, head opposite onto Rue de la Maltière towards the "Couvent de la Visitation". At the X-shaped crossroads, go down Chemin des Gouttes opposite. In front of the Clos des Visitandines building, keep to the right of the road, then, 50 m further on, turn left onto the one-way street, Rue des Mesanges. At the bottom, at the crossroads, cross Route du Col de la Luère, D42.
(2) At the Couvent de la Visitation sign, follow the muddy path straight ahead, descending towards La Quinsonnière. Join the Route de Montolvet, D70, and follow it on the left, passing a bend protected by a low wall. Join a fork on the left (elevation 382).
(3) At the La Quinsonnière sign, ignore the road on the left, Chemin de la Quinsonnière, and climb Chemin Creux on the right towards "La Sigodière". After 300 m, you will reach a crossroads.
(4) At the La Sigodière sign, climb Chemin de la Sigodière, slightly to the left, following the sign for "Le Bouillon". Leave a path going in the opposite direction on the left, then cross another and arrive at a fork. Take the path on the right which crosses a wood. Join Chemin de Varvaux and follow it straight ahead. At the edge of the woods, cross Ruisseau du Bouillon and then reach a road, Chemin du Bouillon. Follow it to the left and continue along a dirt track until you reach an intersection shortly afterwards.
(5) At the Le Bouillon sign, turn sharply right towards the "Col de la Luère". Climb up a few wide hairpin bends through the woods and you will reach Chemin des Béchères. Go up to the left, ignoring the side paths, and at a hairpin bend, join the Route du Col de la Luère, D24 (elevation 698). Take it to the right to reach a crossroads (elevation 715).
(6) At the Col de la Luère sign, follow "La Croix du Ban" via the path to the right of the road. After 50 m, at the fork, take the left-hand path. Ignore the numerous side paths and follow the widest path marked in yellow. Descend to a crossroads marked with a cross.
(7) At the La Croix du Ban sign, take the path opposite (north-north-east) towards "Le Col de la Croix du Ban". You will reach a crossroads with a road and several paths (elevation 604).
(8) At the Le Col de la Croix du Ban sign, head to "Jeu de Quilles". Cross Route D610 and continue straight ahead on Chemin des Limites, which is regularly marked in yellow. Ignore the various side paths and continue to an intersection.
(9) At the Jeu de Quilles sign, stay on the same path, which turns left towards "La Grande Combe". Ignore the few paths on the right and left and follow the yellow markings to an intersection.
(10) At the La Grande Combe sign, turn right towards "Le Col de Fontrijole". After 300 m, you will reach an X-shaped crossroads (elevation 501).
(11) At the Le Col de Fontrijole sign, leave the road on the right and the first path on the left and take the second, often muddy, path towards "Malatray". Leave the woods, leave the access road to the castle on the left and continue to a crossroads (elevation 441).
(12) At the Malatray sign, turn right onto the road, Chemin des Landes, to reach the Château du Poirier, following the tourist sign for "route du Poirier". You will come to the Route de Pollionnay, D70. Follow it for about 100 m. At the fork, leave it and take the marshy path on the left marked by an unidentified sign. Pass under a high-voltage line and join the road, Chemin du Haut Poirier. Follow it until you reach an intersection in front of Château du Poirier.
(13) At the Château du Poirier sign, go down the path on the right towards "Côte Rivière". Further down, join the Chemin de Sainte-Consorce. Take it on the right, cross the Ruisseau du Poirier and, immediately at the fork, keep to the right to climb the opposite slope. Ignore a path on the right (elevation 350) and go to a crossroads.
(14) At the Côte Rivière sign, continue straight ahead to the "Grand Chemin". Continue climbing and you will come to an intersection (elevation 339).
(15) At the Le Grand Chemin sign, ignore Chemin du Tronchil on the left and head straight towards "Larny". Follow a clayey, almost level path along Le Ruisseau de Larny. Pass under a high-voltage power line and you will come to Route de Larny, D70. Turn left onto this road and, after 15 metres, pass a path on your right and continue to a crossroads (elevation 408).
(16) At the Larny sign, turn right onto the ascending street, Le Chemin de la Combe du But, towards "La Plaine". Pass in front of the charming chapel, where you can take a break on the bench. After 300 m, ignore a path on the right, climb the hill and reach an intersection at the start of a flat section.
(17) At the La Plaine sign, located at the top of the embankment on the right, descend the path in the opposite direction to the left towards "Valency". Ignore a path on the left and, at the entrance to Valency, join a street at its hairpin bend. Follow it straight ahead and you will reach an intersection. On the right, descend Rue du Mas de Valencieu. Ignore Rue des Frères Aiglier ascending to the right and after 50 m cross diagonally across the D70 to join a path slightly to the right.
(18) At the Valency sign, descend towards "Le Verdy" via Chemin la Coursière. Cross a stream and arrive at a crossroads in front of two houses.
(19) At the Le Verdy sign, leave the path that turns right and ignore the path on the left, choosing instead the path that descends opposite towards "Les Mandrières". Cross the Ruisseau du Ratier and, continuing along a street, you will reach the D70. Follow it to the left, then leave it for the first road on the right, Chemin de la Guille. Ignore the dead-end road on the right and, at the top, at the intersection, go down Route de la Croix du Ban on the left. Ignore the first street on the right and take the second, Chemin des Mandrières.
(20) At the Les Mandrières sign, ignore this street on the right and continue along Route de la Croix du Ban, descending towards "Pollionnay le Bourg". At the bottom, take the left-hand bend, ignoring the climb up Les Roches on the right. After 100 m, you will reach an intersection (elevation 426).
(21) At the Pollionnay le Bourg sign, ignore Rue des Écoles on your right and continue straight ahead towards "Pollionnay le Stade". Immediately, keep right on Avenue Marius Guerrillon. At the fork 400 m further on, turn left onto Avenue Notre-Dame-de-Lorette. Pass the pretty chapel on your right to reach the entrance to the stadium on your left.
(22) At the Pollionnay le Stade sign, continue straight ahead towards "La Ripaudière". At the crossroads at the end of the road, continue straight ahead along Chemin des Flachères. You will come to a road, Chemin de la Rapaudière, flanked by an unidentified sign. Continue straight ahead towards the same destination and, 300 m further on, take the right-hand bend to reach an intersection.
(23) At the La Ripaudière sign, continue straight ahead, following "Le Pirot". At the fork, take Chemin du Revay on the right, then go down the slope and turn left at the bottom along the Ruisseau du Mercier. Shortly afterwards, join Chemin du Sarrazin and turn right to cross the stream. Go up the opposite slope, continue along the street of the same name and you will come to a fork.
(24) At the Le Pirot sign, continue straight ahead towards "Grézieu-la-Varenne Village". After 250 m, ignore Chemin du Pirot on the left. At the stop sign, cross the D24 and continue straight ahead on Rue des Monts du Lyonnais. After three side streets, in front of a building car park, you will reach an intersection with Rue de Finale en Emilie.
(25) At the Grézieu-la-Varenne Village sign on the left, head towards "Les Attignies". Turn right onto the narrow passage between two walls. Go through the turnstile and cross a path through a park to reach a street, Allée du Parc. Follow it to the left, after a left/right turn, take Rue du Dr François Cassetti on the left. At the stop sign, take Route des Attignies on the right and you will come to a fork.
(26) At the Les Attignies sign, follow the sign for "Les Ferrières" by turning left onto Rue de La Fourche (no entry) and then left onto Rue des Primevères (also no entry). In front of the cemetery entrance, stay on the same street on the left. At the end of the street, turn right onto Rue des Forges and, immediately after, you will see a sign on the left.
(27) At the Les Ferrières sign, choose the destination "Le Martin" straight ahead. Go up the first street on the right, Voie Nouvelle de Ferrières. Ignore the first street on the left and take the second, Le Chemin du Martin. Go down the Chaudanne valley, cross the stream and climb up the opposite slope. After the Martin farm, join Rue de Verville, D70.
(28) At the Le Martin sign opposite, continue along this street towards "La Bavodière". Ignore Chemin du Michon on the left and Allée des Fontainiers on the right. At the fork, keep right and immediately climb the path on the right towards the war memorial. At the top, go around the monument on the right to reach Rue du Monument. Turn left at the crossroads.
(29) At the La Bavodière sign, go up Rue du Recret on the right towards "L'Hospice". Pass Rue Montaigne on the left and immediately take Chemin des Demoiselles, which runs alongside it. Cross Rue des Aubépines and, 200 metres further on, at the intersection, leave the street opposite and take the footpath on the left which leads to Rue de la Maletière.
(30) At the L'Hospice sign, head towards "Vaugneray". Go down this street, pass the hospital entrance and further down you will come to a crossroads. Walk along Rue de Malval, D50 on the right, ignoring Boulevard des Lavandières on the left. At the fork, keep right on the D70 and, after 250 metres, you will reach the car park on the right (S/E).
