Description of the walk

To reach the starting point by car from Bruyères: head towards Remiremont, cross Lépanges-sur-Vologne and a few kilometres further on, turn right towards Le Roulier. Park your vehicle in the town hall car park.

Signposting: Anneau Rouge

(S/E) From the car park, with your back to the town hall, turn left and then left again at the next junction. Continue to a crossroads marked with a stop sign. Turn right and you will arrive at La Basse.

(1) At the exit of the hamlet, continue for a few metres and quickly turn right at the Calvary. This dirt track crosses farmland with beautiful views of the Vologne valley and comes into view of the entrance to Docelles.

(2) Follow the paved road to the right, which soon crosses a sawmill.

(3) Continue to the right and enter the Docelles forest. After 100 metres, take a wide path on the left that leads to the fitness trail. Follow it until you reach a forest path. Continue straight ahead until you reach a large clearing, which you will go around on the right (view of Le Roulier). You will reach the crossroads with Variant 1 (see Practical Information).

(4) Continue straight ahead on the dirt track and into the woods. Turn right at the next crossroads. When you leave the forest, stay on the edge of the path and join the crossroads for Variant 2 (see also the Practical Information section for this variant).

(5) Turn left down the hill. You will come to a wider forest path.

(6) Follow it to the right, pass by some water sources and start climbing until you reach the Sentier des Ducs crossroads.

(7) Turn right and stay on the ridge. Pass the Carrefour du Hêtre Marqué and then signs indicating the source of the Durbion.

(8) Turn right heading south towards Deycimont. On the plateau, you will cross a beautiful beech forest. Begin the descent to reach another fork.

(9) Turn right. Pass a spring catchment and between two houses in the hamlet of Grandes Feignes, where you will also meet up with route 2.

(10) Follow the paved road, which quickly returns to the starting car park (S/E).

A pleasant, easy route with a short detour to the source of the Durbion, totalling 14 km. Certainly very enjoyable in summer.

A lovely hike through deciduous and coniferous forests. The suggested route no longer corresponds exactly to the signage, which has been changed. I only use GPS, which is fortunate, as the start of some trails has become difficult to see and a few trails have disappeared into the vegetation. At the end of the route, to avoid the tarmac, I crossed the fields after PI 9.

Hello!
No need! I'm a member of the Club Vosgien and have already passed on the information
Unfortunately, every time new markers are put up, the same destruction occurs...

The trail is normally marked by the Club Vosgien d'Épinal, but almost all of the markers have been vandalised
Otherwise, the shortest route I took was really very pleasant and easy for a walk
