Description of the walk

The walk starts at the ADAPEI car park. Unmarked spaces on a gravel area, accessible by car and minibus.

(S/E) With your back to Château Saint-Martin, head left towards the Canal de Carpentras.

(1) Cross the first bridge over the canal, then turn immediately right to walk alongside it.

(2) Cross a second bridge, then turn right to follow a tarmac road that winds its way through the vineyards. On either side, you’ll see farm buildings and scattered houses. You’ll come to a junction with the motoball pitch opposite.

(3) Turn right onto the tarmac section.

(4) Just before the road starts to go downhill, near a small copse, take the dirt track on the right through the vineyards. Return to the starting car park (S/E).

There were very few people out on Thursday 1 May; it was a very easy walk suitable for everyone, even those with children in pushchairs.

This walk is lovely and short enough to do in the evening after work. But between markers 2 and 3, it’s best to turn right, just as you reach the copse. Take the dirt track and follow it to the end. Then turn right and rejoin the route. This avoids the tarmac and 50 per cent of the stretch between markers 3 and 4, which is too busy with cars.
