Description of the walk

The hike starts at the Stillhorner Weg bus stop (line 351 from the Wilhelmsburg S-Bahn station).

(S/E) We walk west along the dyke and then turn left.

(1) The path takes us alongside the motorway over the Süderelbe, which lies picturesquely below us. On the other side, we leave the official route of the Green Ring, follow the stairs down to the left and watch some wading birds and ducks on the banks of the Süderelbe. Then we walk left under the bridge, turn left at the next junction, then right, left and take the third left onto a footpath.

(2) An idyllic path lined with wildflowers takes us past fields and over the Neulander Wettern. At the end of the path, we turn right (the left turn is blocked anyway).

(3) We reach an allotment garden colony and turn left. We follow the road around a right-hand bend and then turn left, take the next right onto Neuländer Straße, then right again and take the second left. We are back on the Grüner Ring.

(4) The road winds down to Neuländer See. There is a water ski facility there. We reach Großmoordamm and turn left, then take the second right.

(5) After the small bridge, turn right and follow the road around a left-hand bend along the edge of the allotment gardens. At the end, turn right onto Hörstener Straße. This takes you under the B75. Then turn left.

(6) A bridge takes us over the railway tracks at Hamburg-Harburg station. We turn left, then right onto Hannoversche Straße and left again. We cross the Seevekanal, Wilstorfer Straße and then turn diagonally left onto Hohe Straße.

(7) The path takes us westward under the road along Engelbek. At the fork, keep left and then cross the Außenmühlendamm to the right.

(8) Shortly afterwards, we reach the Leuchtturm restaurant on the Außenmühlenteich, where benches invite us to take a break. We follow the lake shore, turn right at the second street and then keep left, passing a small pond and going uphill.

(9) At the playground, turn right, then take the second left. Go down the steps. Turn right. After crossing Bremer Straße, leave the Grüner Ring again and follow the footpath past an allotment garden colony. At the end, turn left, then take the second left again. The path leads through a green area at Lohmühlengraben.

(10) We have reached a beautiful wooden bridge over the Lohmühlenteich pond. We continue straight ahead, take the third right and then left onto Göhlbachtal, where we rejoin the Grüner Ring. We turn right onto Weusthoffstraße and then left.

(11) The path leads uphill through a shaded walkway. At the end, turn left, then take the second right onto Trifstraße. After a bus stop, turn right onto Triftweg and then onto a footpath at the end. Turn left and follow the path along a green strip between the houses.

(12) At the end, the route becomes hilly again in the idyllic Meyers Park. Turn left at the second street in the park and follow a narrow path through the shady forest. At the intersection, take the path slightly to the left downhill. At the end, turn right onto a wider path. We pass a pony farm and a playground and finally reach Stader Straße. We turn left and walk to the Krankenhaus Mariahilf bus stop (bus 141 to Harburg-Rathaus station, alternatively in the opposite direction to Heimfeld station) (E).
