Grasmoor and Whiteless Pike

Start:Car park just after Lanthwaite, (CA13 9UY) Grid ref. NY 158 207

(S/E) From the car park, cross the road to take the path across the field going toward the base of the mountain (North-East). Continue straight until reaching a bridge. Cross the bridge, go straight and after a couple of meters turn right on the path (not the first one closer to the river, but the one slight up the side of the mountain). Keep straight on this path following the river below you (do not take the path on the left going up toward Whin Ben) until reaching several waterfalls and Coledale Hause (2.8 Km).

(1) At the intersection of several paths, turn right, then right again and continue straight on this large path between the summits. Then after 900m or so, take right (West) on the large path to go up Grasmoor summit.

(2) At Grasmoor summit walk back to go down and rejoin the initial path. Take right to walk toward Whiteless summit.

(3) At Whiteless summit, take the path straight (South) to go down. (This part is very steep). Keep going down until reaching an intersection of paths.

(4) Take the first path right following Squat Beck. Turn right to cross the beck and continue until reaching the road B5289 passing by Rannerdale bridge.

(5) Turn right at the road and walk on the side of the road (North) until the car park (S/E)

Terrain: rocky and grassy paths

Pushchair friendly: No

Dog friendly: Yes; however the path along Liza Beck is very close to the edge. Can have sheep between Grasmoor and Whiteless pike
