To get to the start: from the D100, head up towards the Esterel Caravaning campsite and continue along the tarmac road to the car park at the Maison Forestière de Roussiveau.
(S/E) From the car park at the Maison Forestière de Roussiveau, take the road towards the Pont du Perthus.
(1) At the left-hand bend, take the path leading uphill to the left.
(2) Turn right at the junction of the two paths. Cross a ford (concrete slab), then turn left.
(3) At the junction of the two paths, continue straight on along the balcony path (this path is not shown on the IGN map).
(4) Turn left onto the path that winds its way up.
(5) Turn left, then left again onto the path leading to the summit of Perthus Occidental. Superb panoramic views of the Estérel, the towns of Saint-Raphaël and Fréjus, and the coast.
(6) Return along the same path to the junction you have already passed.
(4) Continue straight on, then, shortly afterwards, turn left.
(7) Turn right onto the path that runs alongside the Ruisseau du Perthus to the Pont du Perthus. Impressive rock formations.
Turn back.
(7) Continue along the stream.
(8) Turn right at the Pont des Cantines. Follow the Gabre de Guourin.
(9) Turn left onto the path. Ignore a path on the right.
(10) Turn right at the Y-junction. At the Pont du Pigeonnier, there is an impressive stone tower.
(11) Turn left at a hairpin bend.
(12) Turn left at a cistern and, shortly afterwards, left again to reach a small pond. Return to the junction with the cistern and take the path on the left.
(13) Turn left onto a path opposite the Maison Forestière des Charretiers.
(14) Turn onto the path leading down to the right at Baisse Andoulette.
(15) Continue left at the fork.
(2) Follow the path on the left up to the summit of the Barre du Roussiveau. Beautiful views.
(16) Descend via the same path.
Carry on straight ahead at the junction.
(1) Turn right onto the road. Continue along the road to the car park (S/E).
