Fraissinet-de-Fourques walks

Starting from the hamlet of L'Hom, this hike first takes you to discover the endless spaces of the southern part of the Causse Méjean. Endless grassy and rocky hills, interspersed with cultivated plots and coniferous woods, allow you to take in the immensity of the landscape. It concludes with a visit to the discovery trail of the chaos of Nîmes le Vieux, bristling with hundreds of strangely shaped rocks sculpted by erosion. Informative panels are strategically placed along the trail to complement the experience. A beautiful day, punctuated by visits to the Causse hamlets of L'Hom, Le Veygalier and Villeuneuve, with their remarkable architecture.

This walk is located on the north side of the Aigoual massif in the Cevennes. At the summit of the hike you will have a beautiful view of the Causse Mejean and the Valley of Jonte. On a clear day looking west you can see the Millau viaduct.

A short walk of a good two hours starting from the swimming pool car park. Pass by Roquedols Castle then the Col de Tribe before returning to Meyrueis.

An easy hike on the Causse Méjean, passing through three hamlets. You can visit a protohistoric enclosure at the highest point of the hike and see the karstic cave near the hamlet of Hure.

Despite its uninviting name, this is a superb hike under the forest canopy. The name comes from the fact that there was once no cemetery in Camprieu, forcing the inhabitants to carry their dead to the hamlet of Saint-Sauveur.

A complete hike to discover Mont Aigoual, its panoramic views and forests, passing through the Hort de Dieu Arboretum. Partially shaded route alternating between large and small forest paths and open trails. A few kilometres on a DFCI track that quickly joins a more shaded area.

Tenth stage of a complete journey on the Chemin de Stevenson between Le Puy-en-Velay and Alès. This stage may involve significant changes to the GR®70 signposting. This stage essentially follows the Mimente valley before it flows into the Tarnon at Florac.

From Valleraugue, take the famous 4000-step trail that climbs up to the Mont-Aigoual observatory. To complete the loop, follow theGR®6for a long descent through the forest towards Aire de Côte, before finishing with a crossing of the chestnut grove above the hamlet of Berthezène.

For experienced hikers, here is a 40 km loop starting from Valleraugue and reaching Aigoual via the famous 4,000 steps. It descends to Lac du Bonheur near Camprieu, then climbs back up to Espérou and ends along the ridges facing Mont Aigoual, which you will have discovered a few hours earlier. This hike is not technically difficult but is very long with some steep sections and requires good stamina.

Located at the crossroads of the Grands Causses, Mont Lozère and the Cévennes valleys, the Ispagnac valley boasts a wide variety of geological features. Limestone, granite and schist blend together, creating diverse landscapes shaped by the nature of the subsoil. This trail, which runs along the foot of the Causse Méjean, offers you a walk through a schistose terroir.

In the heart of the Tarn Gorges, Saint-Chély du Tarn is a little gem nestled in the cirque of the same name. Its wealth comes from the limestone plateau above and the bridge that crosses the river. What a contrast between the cool, green gorge and the arid plateau! But these are two sides of the same interactive landscape. It's up to you to discover them.

A lovely hike from Les Plantiers to the Saint-Marcel church in Fontfouillouse, passing through the hamlet of Monteils, the Col de l'Espinas and Faveyrolle.

A walk to discover this pretty little medieval town in the Gorges du Tarn, one of the "Most Beautiful Villages in France".

Menhirs are found in Brittany. The proof: the name itself is of Breton origin (maen hir = long stone). And even more so when they are made of granite. But if I told you that one of Europe's main megalithic sites is in Lozère, would you believe me? The standing stones along this route at the foot of Mont Lozère are like those scattered by Tom Thumb: just follow them to find your way.

This beautiful and varied hike combines a walk along the banks of the Gorges du Tarn with the discovery of magnificent hamlets and villages in the Causse region, followed by a return trip across the Causse Méjean plateau in a remarkable wooded environment. The absolute calm of the causse contrasts with the hustle and bustle of La Malène and the constant stream of canoes descending the gorges. But the prospect of a welcome swim in the summer months will quickly help you forget this inconvenience. The harmonious blend of majestic landscapes and picturesque, well-preserved traditional buildings makes this circuit particularly appealing.

The route follows part of the drovers' road from Colognac to Mont Aigoual.

Ninth stage of a complete journey on the Chemin de Stevenson between Le Puy-en-Velay and Alès. This stage features significant changes to the GR®70 signposting, taking an alternative route to the GR®70 for much of the way. This means that the stage is substantially shorter than the official route. This stage marks the entry of the Chemin de Stevenson into the Cévennes region.

These paths lead to terraces that were once cultivated and offer views of the surrounding hamlets. Most of this hike is in the shade of holm oaks and chestnut trees. You'll feel like you've stepped back in time in these typical Cévennes landscapes.

This is an easy hike that allows you to discover the different landscapes of Lozère, the Béal de Felgerolles, the Tarn and a few picturesque hamlets typical of Mont Lozère. It also offers beautiful views of the Cévennes landscape. The wooded sections make it particularly pleasant in hot weather.

Several paths connect Saint-Jean-du-Bruel to Algues, the former stronghold of the Roquefeuil family overlooking the Dourbie valley. This is an easy 7km route with a moderate incline, ideal for a leisurely stroll.

Mont Lozère rises to 1,699 metres, making it the highest point in the Cévennes. However, its geological nature sets it apart from the rest of the massif. This imposing granite wall closes off the schist valleys of the Cévennes and heralds the high plateaus of southern Auvergne. It also offers magnificent views of all the peaks of the southern Massif Central, as far as Mont Ventoux. Best explored in good weather.
