Car park at Luzarches church.
(S/E) From the car park, head east and cross the D316 (2 roundabouts).
(1) At the second roundabout, follow theGR®1on the left, along the departmental road. You will soon come to a fork and take the right. TheGR® descends gently into the Ysieux valley (beautiful views of the church of Luzarches when you turn around). It joins a small road which you follow to the left. Shortly afterwards, cross the stream at the Pont de Brassay.
(2) At a right-hand bend, take the path on the left. It runs alongside a wet meadow and quickly reaches a fork. Take the right-hand path (stillGR®1) and climb up through the meadow and into the forest.
(3) At a fork, take the left-hand path (PR® Jaune). The straight line on the map does not correspond to the actual terrain: thePR® actually follows the dotted path along the edge of the hillside on the left.
(4) You will come to another junction: take the fairly steep climb on the left (yellowPR® ).
(5) At the top of the climb, take the Route des Brûlis on the right until you reach the Carrefour de Chaumontel at the bottom of a descent.
(6) Follow thePR® on the right (east): this is the Route de la Verrerie. It climbs and descends several times between small peaks (such as the Pain de Sucre) crowned with a few sandstone rocks. Ignore the paths on the right and left and arrive at the Carrefour de la Verrerie, at the bottom of a descent.
(7) Turn right onto the Route Pavée de la Ménagerie, which is a wide path, and arrive at the Carrefour de la Ménagerie, where you will find theGR®1markers.
(8) Turn left and the path climbs up onto the plateau. Continue straight ahead for about 1.2 km until you come to a wide path at the Carrefour de Luzarches.
(9) Take theGR® on the right. It leads to the edge of the forest.
(10) At the crossroads, turn right onto the path (which quickly becomes a small tarmac road) that descends into the Hérivaux valley and continue past the entrance to the castle. Opposite, behind the building along the road, you will see the roof of a tithe barn. Nothing is open to visitors. The ruins of the abbey can be seen beyond the gate of the property.
Continue along the road that turns west.
(11) At the crossroads, take the road on the left that climbs into the woods. At the next fork, leave the road and take the path on the left (PR® Jaune). At the top of the hill, leave a road on the right and continue to the crossroads with theGR®655.
(12) Follow theGR® on the right down to a road, turn left and enter Thimécourt. Follow this road to the end of the village.
(13) Turn right along the castle. Cross the D922 and continue through the fields until you reach the first crossroads.
(14) Turn right and continue straight ahead to Gascourt. In the street you come to, continue straight ahead (PR® signs). The path makes a detour past the wash house and then joins the road that climbs back up to Luzarches. This part of the path is poorly maintained and is even overgrown after the wash house. Take the road on the left, which climbs back up to the second roundabout from the start and cross over the D316 to reach the car park on the left (S/E).
