Fesches-le-Châtel - Mandeure

(S) From the bus stop, walk past the temple and follow the street to the left towards the cemetery. Turn left again towards the cemetery. Leave it behind and continue straight ahead until you reach a shelter on the left.

(1) Turn right onto the GR®. Then leave a track on the right at a sign. Leave all intersections on the left and right to stay on the path until you reach a fence on the right and a barrier.

(2) Follow the grassy path on the left and ignore the path on the right. Stay on the same path, ignoring the forks on the left and right, until you reach the pedestrian crossing on the road at the entrance to Dampierre-les-Bois.

(3) Cross the D463 with caution, then turn right. Please note: the markings on IGN maps are out of date at this point. Follow the GPS route and the information provided. Then turn left, leaving a path on your left. You will come to a fork.

(4) Leave the path on the left. Then leave two others on the right. At the next junction, take the path opposite, then reach a star-shaped crossroads.

(5) Take the path that branches off to the right on the other side of the crossroads. Then leave several "tracks" on the right to reach a small road.

(6) Cross this road. At the next junction, follow the track on the left and you will reach another fork.

(7) Take the path on the left, which climbs slightly. Pass two paths on the right, then a path on the left and a final path on the right to reach a crossroads.

(8) At the crossroads, turn right, then leave a discreet path on the left before turning right and leaving two forks. Exit the woods and reach the cemetery, leaving a path on the left, then another on the right. Follow the path to the greenway.

(9) Continue straight ahead, then at the fork, go straight ahead, follow to the right, then right again and immediately left onto Rue des Vergers. At the end, turn left onto Rue d'Audincourt (D126) and reach the junction with Rue des Aiguillottes.

(10) Go up this street on the right. At the end, continue along the track until you reach a road.

(11) Turn right towards Seloncourt. Follow the track that continues along the road. Pass a path leading to a building on the right, then another path on the left to reach Rue de Dasle.

(12) Take this road on the left very carefully and continue to the roundabout.

(13) Take the second exit, Rue de la Fonderie. At the car park, turn left towards it. Then walk along the building on your right before crossing Le Gland and reaching a roundabout.

(14) Turn right onto Rue du Général Leclerc (D34), then turn left onto Rue du Château d'Eau. Pass two crossroads and head towards the churches on the right.

(15) Continue and then turn right twice to stay on Rue du Château d'Eau. Follow it to the end. At the fitness trail, take the path that descends at a right angle to the right. Pass five forks and continue straight ahead, downhill, to Rue des Combes.

(16) Go up this street on the left. At the end, follow the path. Pass a discreet path on the right, then a crossroads of "tracks". Then pass all the forks on the left and right to stay on the main track and reach the picnic tables at a place called Les Cinq Sapins.

(17) Continue straight ahead towards Thulay. Pass a farm track on your right and continue along the street until you reach a crossroads.

(18) Follow the street to the right. Follow the bend to the left, then another to the right. Pass in front of Thulay Town Hall before turning right at a right angle onto Chemin Haut des Bois.

(19) Follow this road to the right, then continue along the track until you reach a fork.

(20) Leave the track on the right and continue straight ahead on the path. Pass a path on the left, then two other wider paths, still on the left, to reach a road.

(21) Go down this road. Carefully cross the departmental road (D35) before passing a junction on the left at the "parking de chasse" sign. Pass a junction, then a path on the left, and you will reach a fork.

(22) Pass the paths on the right, then a path coming from the same side. Pass a fork on the left, then another steep path on the left to reach a crossroads of dirt tracks.

(23) Follow the descent to the fork at the edge of the woods, passing a discreet path on the left.

(24) Take the uphill track on the left. At the bend, go right and leave a junction on the left. Leave a junction with paths, then continue to the bend.

(25) Follow the clear track that turns right. Leave all the forks on the left and right to reach Rue de Champvaudon and Rue du Maquis.

(26) Go down this street. Pass three forks and reach a fourth with Rue des Fontenis.

(27) Follow this street to the left until you reach the roundabout. Take the left exit onto Rue des Granges. Continue straight ahead until you reach the Bataille nursery school.

(28) Turn right onto Rue du Temple. At the end, turn left onto Rue de la Libération and continue until you reach the "Fourneau" bus stop in Mandeure (E).

Take care between points (12) and (13): you will need to walk along a busy road with no footpath. The same applies when crossing the road (D35) after (21).

It is possible to do this hike as a day trip, separately from the other stages. To do so, park in the car park opposite the Crédit Agricole bank in Mandeure. With your back to the car park, turn right onto Rue de la Libération to reach the "Fourneau" bus stop (E). Take the bus to Montbéliard and get off at Audincourt at the "Place du Marché (Quai 1)" stop. Then take another bus, line F, towards Montbéliard "Accropole". Get off at the "Sallengro" bus stop in Fesches-le-Châtel (S). Then follow the suggested route. When you arrive at the Crédit Agricole bank in Mandeure, turn right towards the car park.
