Parking is available at the crossroads of Rue des Combattes opposite No. 20 Route de Dambenois.
The hike is marked with a yellow ring.
(S/E) Admire the old fountain before taking Rue des Combattes. After 100 metres, turn right, heading east, onto a stony path that runs alongside fields and joins the forest, climbing slightly. Keep going in the same direction.
(1) When you reach the top, turn right, heading south, and follow a hilly path with beautiful forest scenery. Join the historic path of the Boundary Stones of the Principality of Montbéliard.
(2) Look for the boundary stones that used to mark the borders of the Principality of Montbéliard. They are about 1 m high and had a coat of arms with three fleurs-de-lis on the north side (Belfort side) and three deer antlers on the Montbéliard side. The coats of arms are now worn and you have to look carefully to see them. There are several along the stream to the left of the path.
Turn right and follow it south-west. Go downhill, turn right then left to reach a gravel path near a pumping station.
(3) Take this path to the left until you reach the junction with the D202.
(4) Follow this road to the left for about 150 metres (take care) and turn right onto Rue du Chemin de l'Écluse, which leads to lock no. 2 on the Haute-Saône canal.
(5) Turn right onto Coulée Verte, which runs alongside the canal, and pass under the D25 bridge.
(6) Immediately afterwards, turn left onto the path that climbs up and joins the D25. Follow the departmental road on the left.
At the next crossroads, join the D209 towards Dambenois, the starting point (S/E).

We'll have to try again in the spring... The hiking trail is very well marked with a yellow ring, so it's impossible to get lost.
