Morvillars les Grandes Tannières circular loop

Start at the car park on Rue du Stade in Morvillars.

The route is marked with a red disc

(S/E) Head east towards the D23 (Rue Charles de Gaulle), which is the main street in Morvillars.

(1) Follow it to the right and cross it carefully to continue opposite on Rue du Marché, pass in front of the town hall and continue on Rue du Paquis. Cross the canal on the footbridge, admire the water intake and the beautiful waterfall, and continue left on Rue Sous la Côte along the Allaine river.

(2) At the crossroads, turn right and then right again further on. The path climbs through a beautiful forest.

(3) Turn right onto the forest path. At the next crossroads, turn left onto the main path. Follow the signposts carefully. Continue to the water tower. Go past it. The route joins the GR®E5 and the Way of St James.

(4) Turn right and follow it for 300 m.

(5) Leave the GR® and turn left. Follow the red disc markings for 400 m.

(6) Watch out for the markings indicating to turn right onto a narrow path. At the first crossroads, turn right and continue to the next one.

(7) Turn right, continue along the path, cross the GR® and continue along the forest path.

(8) At the end, turn left then right. The path is winding. It crosses a small stream and continues to join a wide stone path. Along the way, you will see the targets of the Morvillars archers. At the crossroads, there is a sign for the Archers du Bois de la Voivre.

(9) At this crossroads, turn left, and 600 m further on, turn right, heading north, and you will come within sight of the D23.

(10) Turn right, join the D23 and cross it to continue on the path opposite, which leads to the monument to the soldiers who died during the liberation. Return to the D23 and continue left towards Morvillars. Turn left onto Rue de l'Église. Be sure to admire this beautiful church as you walk around it. Continue left on the D23 for 100 metres, then take the first left onto Rue de la Fontaine.

(11) Turn right towards the media library, go around it on your right and continue along the fence. Cross the canal on the footbridge, turn right immediately afterwards and walk along the school. Turn right and walk along the athletics track. Follow the path to the left, turn right to leave the primary school on your left and arrive at Rue du Stade and the car park (S/E).

Château Armand in Morvillars. 1 Rue du Parc. It was built by Armand Viellard around 1872. It is currently a medical practice.

The VMC factory: Viellard Migeon et Compagnie (V.M.C. pêche) is the world leader in the manufacture of triple hooks. It celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2010.

Saint-Martin Church dating from 1886 with its clock.

The Allaine River, which becomes the Allan. It rises in Switzerland at an altitude of 605 metres. At its confluence with the Bourbeuse, it becomes the Allan and flows into the Doubs downstream from Voujeaucourt. Its length is 58 km, including the Allan.
