Park at the Étang du Val car park - Climbing site.
(S/E) Take the path straight ahead to the edge of the pond. When you reach the bank, depending on the water level, you may have to do a bit of climbing.
(1) Pass the climbing site and continue along the pond, following theGR® (red and white markings). The more athletic can continue along the pond (a bit of rock climbing) instead of going up to the left to follow theGR®; the two routes meet shortly afterwards.
Continue along the path and don't hesitate to stop and enjoy the view of the mill and the basin. In summer, the pond at this point is covered with water lilies and damselflies and dragonflies fly above the water. Continue along the main path until you reach a crossroads in the undergrowth.
(2) Turn left at the sign for the megalithic site. Continue straight ahead, do not cross the small bridge to go to the mill, but turn left to follow the stream: the path is unmarked but well maintained. Continue along the stream, staying on the same side. When the water is high, it is a small torrent with a few pools. On the ground, you may be lucky enough to see traces of deer and badgers.
Continue straight ahead, ignoring the paths on your left that lead directly to the megaliths. Towards the end of this path, there is a road quite close to your right; turn left and follow it for about a hundred metres.
(3) Follow the path that branches off to the left, which is clearly marked. Here, you will walk alongside a field where you may see mules and donkeys (be careful, there is an electric fence). Continue straight ahead to reach the megalithic site, where there are several options with plenty of marked paths.
(4) Turn right to reach the great alignments of Le Moulin.
(5) Walk around them, then head to the north of the site and turn left to follow the marked path towards Étang du Val. You will pass several megaliths. All of them have a very informative explanatory panel. The length of your hike will therefore depend in part on the time you spend reading and observing these remarkable structures.
(6) After the last megaliths, continue to follow the markings towards Étang du Val to reach the rocky promontory with a magnificent view of the lake and the Château du Val. Continue along the path in the same direction: the descent is a little challenging on the knees.
At the bottom of the path, turn right to return to the car park (S/E).
