Description of the route

Start from the car park at the Le Réal housing estate, at the end of Rue Gilbert Brutus in St-Paul-de-Fenouillet.

(S/E) Leave the housing estate and follow Rue Gilbert Brutus to the left. At the next junction, keep left, then carry on straight ahead along Avenue de la République. At the end, opposite No. 16, turn right onto the D619 and continue to Avenue du Général de Gaulle (D117).

(1) Follow this road towards Caudiès-de-Fenouillèdes until you reach the three-way junction, just before the bridge over the Boulzane.

(2) Turn right onto the D20, towards Prugnanes. Follow a lovely little road, with a gentle uphill gradient, through the vineyards, until you reach the village town hall.

(3) Opposite the town hall, turn left onto the D20 towards Caudiès-de-Fenouillèdes. Take care: after a steep climb, the descent is quite fast. Enjoy the beautiful view over the valley. When you reach the first houses in the village, cross the bridge over the Boulzane and, immediately afterwards, turn left to reach a four-way junction.

(4) Turn left onto the D117 towards Saint-Paul-de-Fenouillet and continue to a roundabout.

(5) Take the first exit and follow the cycle path, which runs alongside the D117, to the end. On your right, you’ll see the Hauts de Taïchac and the ruins of Castel Fizel Castle.

(6) Carry on to the right along the D117, using the signposted cycle lane. Follow this road to the bridge over the Boulzane, where you’ll rejoin the route you took earlier.

(2) Continue along the D117 and, retracing your steps from the outward journey, head for the Le Réal housing estate at the end of Rue Gilbert Brutus (S/E).
