Depart from the car-sharing area on Avenue Louis Vigo in Estagel, following the Agly river.
(S/E) Take the cycle path that runs alongside the Agly, with the D117 on your left. Pass under the recent road bridge spanning the Agly and reach the bridge over the Verdouble.
(1) Continue along the cycle path until you reach the end of the signposted route, past the Mas de Jau and its vineyards.
(2) Turn left towards Tautavel vélo. The road (D59) climbs at an average gradient of 4.5 per cent for 3.5 km through fairly wild countryside dotted with a few vineyards. Reach the Verdouble Gorges and descend to a viewpoint overlooking the ruins of Tautavel Castle, perched on its rocky outcrop.
(3) Continue along the D59, enter the village of Tautavel and reach the junction with the D9.
(4) Turn left onto the D9 towards Estagel, cross the bridge over the Verdouble and, about 1.5 km after leaving Tautavel, you’ll reach the Chapelle des Saintes-Puelles on your right.
(5) Continue along the D9 until you reach the junction with the D611.
(6) Carry on along the D611 to the left, towards Estagel, until you reach the railway line and its level crossing.
(7) Just before the level crossing, turn left onto the cycle path. This runs alongside the railway line and the D117 until the next level crossing.
(8) Cross the railway line, then continue left onto the D117, taking care to go straight on, until you reach the car-sharing area (S/E).
