At the entrance to Beaune-le-Froid, coming from the D5 on the D617, park in a small car park on the edge of the D617, below a wooden chalet.

(S/E) Continue along the road, Rue de Clermont-Ferrand, towards the town centre. At the church and circular fountain, go around the fountain on the left, following the signs for Font des Chiens. Further on, continue along Rue Saint-Roch, passing between the cross on the left and the fountain on the right. Further on, at another fountain, turn left onto Rue des Bruyères and cross the farm, following the bends.
(1) Further up, at the T-junction, at the "Font des Chiens" signpost, follow the road to the left. Ignore a path on the right at the cross. You will arrive at a signpost marked "La couaille".
(2) Take the path on the left towards Mergelet. Ignore two paths on the right, then follow the yellow signs and take a third path on the right (the path that continues straight ahead is not shown on the map).
(3) When you reach a road, continue on the path opposite, slightly to the right (there is a yellow sign a little further along this path). Ignore a path on the left. Further on, ignore another path on the left that is not very visible and turn right, downhill.
(4) When you reach a wide path, turn right, ignoring the yellow signpost this time. Continue straight ahead until you reach a road.
(5) Follow it to the left to return to the start of this short circular loop.
(2) Take the same route as on the way out to find the "Font des Chiens" marker.
(1) Continue straight ahead on the road towards Vegude. Continue straight ahead at the following crossroads (the streets on the right all lead to the village of Beaune-le-Froid) until you reach the D617, at the yellow signs. Turn right to return to the car park (S/E).
