Coming from the Gorges de Daluis, at the entrance to Guillaumes, you will find a car park on the right just after the bridge.
(S/E) Follow the main road, Avenue Alexandre Durandy, up to Rue du Dauphiné. There, an unnumbered signpost directs you to turn left towards La Roche Trouée. Cross the village and then the River Var. At the end of the Durandy Bridge is signpost 15. Turn left towards La Roche Trouée and take the path along the River Var.
(1) Turn right just after the basketball court, cross the road and walk alongside the football pitch.
(2) At marker 14, turn right and climb a steep path, following the yellow markings (present along almost the entire route).
(3) When you reach a junction (marker 91), turn right to reach La Roche Trouée.
(4) At marker 92, take the path that starts behind it and climb about fifty metres to find a lovely natural shelter and the magnificent Roche Trouée, which is worth seeing from both sides. Turn back.
(3) Continue straight on towards Sauze Vieux.
(5) On reaching the village, walk past the house and continue straight on along the paved slanting street, which is about 100 metres long. Walk past another house before reaching the RD 176 at marker 89: there is a water point here.
(6) Turn right, watch out for traffic, and follow the road up to the nearby chapel where you will find a picnic table and a water point. Continue along the road to marker 88 at a right-hand bend.
(7) Turn left towards Sauze. Please note, the path crosses the road for about a hundred metres. Then rejoin the path below and follow it to a crossroads . Here you can admire one of the most beautiful terraced fields in the area.
(8) Turn right towards Sauze and reach the road at marker 94.
(9) Cross over towards Sauze. Take care when crossing.
(10) You’ll reach the village of Sauze at marker 82. The route ahead goes left, but we recommend taking a short circular route through this ancient village. To do this, turn right, walk past the church and turn left to pass in front of the communal oven, then return to marker 82
(10) Head towards Pont de Paniès. Shortly afterwards, at marker 83, located just past the communal water tower, follow the signs for Pont de Paniès to the right. The marker is lying on the ground. At the next crossroads, continue straight ahead and follow the yellow-marked path which passes through magnificent woodland.
(11) At the junction of tracks near a cairn, continue straight on towards Guillaumes along a path that winds downwards.
(12) At marker 164, turn right towards Guillaumes.
(13) Turn right at marker 163, towards Guillaumes, following the path down through the forest. Pass marker 162 and continue towards Guillaumes, to the right, until you reach the tarmac road.
(14) At Route de Sauze, turn left for 10 m and cross with care. Take the path directly opposite, which runs alongside some houses.
(15) About ten metres before reaching Route de Sauze, a track starts on the right at a 180° angle: follow it for a few metres, and a path will take you back to the banks of the Var, which you will follow until you reach the tarmac road known as Promenade Louis Payani.
Proceed with caution, as we are back on a tarmac road, until you reach the finish.
Cross the Var, then turn immediately right onto Avenue Charles Albert, where regional information boards are on display. Continue to the main street in Guillaumes to return to the starting car park (S/E).
