Start: The start is at the bottom of the village of Etaules, at a fork in the centre of which is a beautiful century-old tree.
(S/E) Turn right onto the carriageway that runs past the cemetery. After 400m, join another track and turn right.
(1) 100m further on, at the crossroads at the entrance to the forest, fork right onto the path furthest to the right, which allows you to visit a wash-house, a spring and a pond.
(2) Retrace your steps.
(1) Turn right, heading North-West, on the path that leads up to the plateau.
(3) 400m further on, in a right-hand bend, go straight ahead on a small track which goes into the forest and down the Combe des Argillières, to join the track which runs alongside the Suzon at the very bottom of the valley, on the edge of the forest. Follow this path to the left for a good kilometre, until you reach a ford.
(4) Do not cross the river. Continue on the same path up the Val Suzon and, after 400m, follow the small cliffs on the left.
(5) At the end of the cliffs, turn left and climb up the slope on a vague path winding through boulders and vegetation. This path returns a little to the left above the cliffs and eventually becomes a good path that leads up to the plateau, where it joins the GR®2.
(6) Take the GR®2 to the right (Red and White markings). This leads, via zigzags on the edge of the plateau, to the Neolithic site of Châtelet d'Etaules. Continue South-East on the GR®2 for about 500m.
(7) Leave it at the point where it turns left to the North, and continue straight ahead on a track heading due East. Pass two paths on the right.
(8) Where the track bends 90° to the left, turn right (East) towards a line of trees, which you follow to the left until you reach a crossroads. Turn right to reach the hundred-year-old tree 200m further on (S/E).
