Description of the walk

The start is at a place called La Tuère, in Val Suzon near the SPA refuge, where you can park your vehicle. A sign on the right (towards Messigny - Val Suzon) of the road indicates the start.

(S/E) Climb up the Combe de Saint-Fol on a path (uphill, flat, downhill and uphill) for about 750 metres to reach the Saint-Fol spring (on the left of the route).
After passing the spring, continue climbing up the valley without taking the marked fork to the right (Yellow - Blue) which leads to Messigny-et-Vantoux.
From the spring, climb for about 600 metres following the bottom of the valley until you reach a clear carriage road that runs along the edge of the woods.

(1) Take it on the left for about 400 metres until it meets another carriage road coming from the right.
At the intersection, take the left-hand path, which has two trails. Take the one furthest to the right and follow it to a large clearing where there is a pylon (700 metres).

(2) Go past the pylon on the left and immediately take the path through the woods on the right behind it. Follow it (downhill and uphill) until it branches off completely to the right (250m).
You are still in the woods and the path follows the contour lines (flat, gently uphill). You are now at the top of Combe Charbonnière (south).
Caution: at the top of a small climb, look carefully at the markings and do not follow the path straight ahead. There are rocks at this point and if you continue without looking up, you will not see the gap on the right that you need to take.
The trail continues on flat ground and joins a wider path, which you follow (to the left) for about 100 metres.

(3) Then take the path on the left-hand edge that descends into Combe Charbonnière (blue markings).
Descend to the bottom of the valley (approximately 750m) and then along the right-hand side where there is a stream.
You will then come to theGR®7trail. Follow it to the left (downhill) to Sainte-Foy.

(4) Turn right and pass in front of the inn, taking the D7 (towards Val Suzon).

(5) After the bridge over the Suzon river, turn left onto the path markedGR®7. Follow it until you reach a wide stone path (GR®7, Route Forestière de Jouvence), which you take to the left for 1.7km until you reach a barrier. Take the path on the left which joins the D7 and from there, turn right to reach the starting point (S/E).

A very pleasant route with gentle climbs, babbling brooks, beautiful views and easy to follow. It is possible to avoid the stony descent, which is not recommended for children and elderly people, by turning back from the balconies and taking the path indicated after the flat section of the open path. Thursday 6th, no hunting.

A lovely walk in the Suzon. Slippery in wet weather. Unfortunately, the inn no longer exists. A craftsman has now set up shop on the site.

A pleasant walk in the forest. The only difficulty is a slightly steep climb. Be careful at the start not to follow the marked path that goes uphill, but the one on the right.

A pleasant walk under the trees most of the way, so very enjoyable when it's hot. No major difficulties.
But be careful, several trees had fallen across the path, so you had to go around them.

Hike completed with three children aged 7 to 13. We thoroughly enjoyed it. Varied landscapes, small caves, pretty flowers and butterflies. In the shade.
At the start and finish, instead of following the road near the spa, you can walk through the woods.
It took us three hours, including a snack break, photo stops and a detour to the viewpoint.

Beautiful hike with stunning views.
The starting point of the trail should be better marked, given the other trails that are marked.
