Car park at the marina.
(S/E) From the car park, with your back to the buildings, head towards a traffic island (sign: no entry except for users), turn left onto a grassy traffic island and continue along the quays in front of the harbour master’s office. Turn right to continue along the docks. Take care in this section, which is a working area. You will reach a boat fittings shop.
(1) Follow the path made up of large slabs covered in gravel, which continues as a footpath running along the bottom of the cove. Before the fitness trail, turn right onto a street and follow it to the right until you reach the pedestrian crossing.
Cross over and continue straight ahead along the edge of Place des Anciens Combattants. Turn right then left towards the church. Follow the wall for a few metres to reach an imposing wash house that deserves a better fate (June 2018), then retrace your steps to enter the grounds of Saint-Tudy Church, a Romanesque church with its old cemetery. Note a Christianised stele on the east side and, near the exit, an imposing funerary monument featuring an angel blowing a trumpet.
At the exit of the churchyard, turn left into Rue de Poulpeye towards Saint-Tudy School.
(2) Cross the car park to the right of the school and head towards a grassy area where there is a beautiful fountain. Continue along a wide, tree-lined path, initially ignoring the path on the left. Walk for about 500 m.
(3) Just before an open space after the last houses, turn left onto a street and follow it to the left. At the right-hand bend, take the small passageway to reach another street, Impasse de Polpeye. Go round the houses on the right and take another passageway leading onto Rue des Jonquilles. Follow it to the left until you reach the junction with Rue de Kerpaul.
(4) Follow it to the right, passing in front of Kerpaul Castle, a large family residence built in the late 19th century and visible from the street, and go past the hamlet of Pontual Vraz (signpost).
GR®34: Red and white markings
(5) Turn left and continue along a path closed to motor vehicles (GR® mark on a large stone blocking the way). Pass a road on the right leading to the sewage treatment plant, go past the houses of Pontual Vihan and arrive at a crossroads opposite a warehouse.
No markings
(6) Leave theGR® and follow the road to the right, go past the roundabout and arrive at Langoz Beach.
(7) Walk along the seafront on the lovely promenade, pass the sailing centre and continue along the path towards Pointe de Langoz and its lighthouse.
(8) Turn left onto Rue du Phare, lined with beautiful properties, pass the first roundabout and then a major junction with a square on the left.
Off the marked route
(9) Turn right into the narrow Rue Jeanne-d'Arc, cross Rue du Port and continue along Rue de la Grandière. Opposite the former “Le Gall” cannery, now a museum, turn right into Rue de la Palue and head towards the seafront opposite Île-Tudy.
(10) Follow the seafront. Note the black and white marker known as La Perdrix (celebrating its 100th anniversary in 2018) and head towards the harbour esplanade. Continue along the quays. Take care in this section, which is a working area.
(11) At this point, access may be restricted during boat unloading periods.
In this case, turn back and go round the back of the building. It is always worth coming this far to watch the fish auction in action. Continue along the Quai de la Coopérative, pass a slipway for launching boats and return to the car park (S/E).
