From Plomb du Cantal to Lioran via Puy du Rocher

Short hike along the ridges with breathtaking views of the Cantal mountains. You can reach the starting point by taking the cable car from Le Lioran or by following the same route in the opposite direction. After enjoying the view from the highest point in this beautiful department, you will reach the Pas des Alpins by following the GR®4/GR®400 marked trail. You will then climb up to the Puy du Rocher to enjoy another breathtaking view of the Plomb du Cantal and its surroundings. Then you will descend towards the Lioran resort on the ridges. The walk ends in the Lioran forest.
Please note: after passing Puy du Rocher, two areas may seem a little difficult for some as they require descending the rock, but aids have been put in place.

(S) Turn right (north-east) and follow a ski slope downhill to the Pas des Alpins crossroads.

(2) Continue straight ahead and climb up the steep slope. This will take you to the summit of Puy du Rocher.

(3) Descend the ridge heading north (rocky passages with aids that have been put in place). Arrive at the foot of the Aiguillon.

(4) Turn sharply left towards Super Lioran via Rocher du Cerf. After crossing for about 300 metres, turn right and descend the switchbacks. Continue descending north-west and enter the forest. You will arrive at Rocher du Cerf.

(5) Turn left and, at the crossroads shortly afterwards, turn left again (south). Make a hairpin turn to the right and reach an intersection.

(6) Then turn left at the hairpin bend (south) and you will soon reach a ski slope.

(7) Follow the track to the right and downhill. Walk past the houses on your right, cross a stream and immediately turn right to reach the lower cable car station (E).
