The walk starts from the Col de Prat de Bouc car park in the commune of Albepierre-Bredons. The car park is a starting point for walks in summer and a ski resort in winter. Le Plomb du Cantal is visible from this car park.
(S/E) From the Col de Prat de Bouc car park, follow the road towards Albepierre.
(1) Take the path on the left 300 metres further down. Cross a footbridge over the Lagnon river and continue along this path.
Take a short detour of a few metres to see the Lagnon waterfall. Return to the path, which is theGR®4400marked in red and white. You will reach the Raveyrol farm.
(2) Take the road on the right to join the RD39 departmental road. Follow this road just after the bridge.
(3) Follow the path on the left (marked Cascade des Vergnes).
Descend to the Cascade des Vergnes waterfall.
(4) Continue along the path until you reach a stone bridge.
(5) Do not cross it, but continue straight ahead.
At the next fork, take the path on the right, which marks the start of the climb. Follow this path and the signs for Les Crêtes and Col de Prat de Bouc.
When you reach an intersection with a white path,
(6) Turn right and follow it until you reach a crossroads with a path on the left.
(7) To return directly to the car park, go through the gate at the end to leave the fields dotted with cows. You can admire the view of the Plomb du Cantal along this path before returning to the car park where you started (S/E).
