Description of the walk

From the D137 coming from Le Grand-Serre, turn right onto the stony track leading to the wind turbines.
If you are coming from Lens-Lestang, this path will be on your left. Park in the car park near the last wind turbine.

(S/E) Follow the path which continues past the wind turbine for about fifty metres, then take the one on the left and follow it to the hamlet of Coin Michel. Continue along the tarmac road to the crossroads.

(1) Turn right and walk for about 100 metres. Take the path on the left that climbs up the hill and follow it to the wide path on the Feytaux plateau.

(2) Turn left and follow this wide path to a four-way junction.

(3) Take the path that descends to the right.

(4) Turn right onto a flat section. At the crossroads of paths in the Font Mourand valley, go straight on.

(5) Turn right onto the path that climbs up through the woods.

(6) Take the path that winds sharply to the left. After the large bend, ignore the path leading down to the left towards the cemetery. Continue straight up until you reach the main Feytaux path.

(7) Follow this wide path to the left for over 1 km, ignoring the side paths on either side. Cross the junction with the main road with care and follow the tarmac road straight ahead that runs between the houses.

(8) Turn right and head down towards the village of Lentiol along the road, then take the path that curves round.
At the junction, head straight ahead, passing in front of the town hall. Then continue straight up to the end of the road.

(9) Follow the small path branching off to the right until you reach the tarmac road, then continue left towards the restricted military zone (Camp de Chambaran). Walk along the right-hand side of it and continue to the next junction.

(10) Turn left. After about 300 m, turn right then take the first path on the right to quickly reach a three-way junction.

(11) Turn left and walk straight on until you reach the starting point (S/E).

A lovely walk, the first half through the woods (thank you to the birds for all your singing) and the second half across a plateau with a view. It’s impossible to drive to the starting point; you’d need a 4x4. So we parked at point 1 and set off from there, which was just as good. The path through the forest isn’t necessarily well-maintained; at point 3, don’t hesitate to head down into the field at the edge of the forest to find the path again. There’s a picnic table at the bus stop by the junction with the main road just before point 8.
Thanks to JB26 for this route.

We had a few questions about the route description, particularly when we reached the plateau. However, the map helped us find our way. A lovely route. Many thanks for all your hard work!!

A lovely hike. I did it starting from Lentiol. There’s a bit of a steep climb between 1 and 2, but otherwise no particular difficulties.
