Exploring the heritage of the Borderouge and Grand Selve neighbourhoods

Meet at Place du Carré de la Maourine, at the Borderouge station exit (metro, line B) heading towards the shops.

(S/E) Head towards Avenue Bourges-Maunoury and follow it to the left. Cross Rue Louise Weiss and turn left immediately between a pizzeria and a building with medical premises on the ground floor. After about twenty metres, pass a playground on your right and take a path on your left. You’ll come out onto Rue Etcheverlepo; follow it to the right until you reach a roundabout.

(1) Cross Rue Bertran, then turn left onto Rue Etcheverlepo and take a path that runs alongside Rue Antoine Pastre. When the street bends to the left, carry on straight ahead, passing the Borderouge School Complex on your left. At the end of the path, cross Chemin de Borderouge and turn left, walking alongside the École Sainte-Germaine. You’ll reach Boulevard André Netwiller.

(2) Cross this boulevard and continue straight ahead into Impasse Jean Sébastien Bach. Take the first right, Rue Edmond Rostand, then the first left, the tree-lined Rue Frédéric Chopin. Carry on straight ahead, crossing the bridge over the ring road. On the other side, cross Impasse Guillaume Rigal and continue straight on towards the Château de Paléficat.

(3) Turn left onto Chemin de Paléficat, which soon bends to the left. Then cross Boulevard Florence Arthaud and carry on straight ahead. At the roundabout, continue along Allée des Sablettes. Ignore all turn-offs to the right and follow the lane as it bends to the left. Then turn right opposite a nursery school.

(4) At the corner of the school, turn left and pass between the school (on your left) and a block of flats (on your right). Follow the path leading off to the right to join Rue des Sables. Follow this street to the right until it ends.

(5) Then turn left into Rue Froideterre. Ignore the side streets on the left, walk alongside a green space on your left and head towards a roundabout (École Maternelle du Grand Selve on the left).

(6) Turn right and follow Allée de Grand Selve along the left-hand pavement (Château du Grand Selve is visible on the right as you walk along the street). Just after a right-hand bend, turn left onto Rue Fabas.

(7) As you come out of the right-hand bend, take a footpath on the left, then the footbridge over the ring road. On the other side, at a small roundabout, turn left onto a tree-lined footpath. At the end, continue along Allée Paul Harris.

(8) Opposite Saint-Sauveur Church, follow Rue Edmond Rostand to the left, keeping to the right-hand pavement. Continue straight on until you reach a small roundabout.

(9) Turn left, then go round a large roundabout on the left, at the foot of the Métronum (concert and recording hall). Continue along Boulevard Bourgès Maunoury. At the traffic lights, carry on straight ahead and you’ll immediately reach Place du Carré de la Maourine and, on the left, the entrance to Borderouge metro station (S/E).
