Description of the walk

Reach Valsenestre from the small road D117A coming from Valjouffrey, Entraigues and Valbonnais. Park in the large car park on the right at the entrance to the village.

(S/E) Take the main road eastwards that follows the GR®54B, marked in white and red.

(1) Cross the stream via the bridge and continue on the GR® until you reach a fork.

(2) Turn left towards Col de la Muzelle. The path turns into a scree slope, well marked by cairns, running alongside the Ruisseau des Combes, then crossing it to reach the Cabane (private) de la Cantine des Carrières.

(3) Enjoy the view. The more hardy can get closer to the Col de la Muzelle. Return by the same route to the car park (S/E).

A sheltered family walk to the fork in the road.
At the Muselle/Côte Belle fork, turn left towards Muzelle. The text provided is unclear on this point.
Next, the Cantine des Carrières hut is private property and home to a shepherd. So, at the fork in the scree, when you see the concrete top of the hut above you on your left, take the path on the right, which also leads to Muselle, so as not to disturb the residents. You will cross a wooden bridge 30 m further on and can finish your walk here, then turn back towards Valsenestre. The well-kept hamlet is worth a visit. In July 2025, a stopover lodge will offer refreshments under a large lime tree.
