Description of the walk

The route starts from the small car park behind the Trépail football pitch (Rue du Stade).

(S/E) Walk down Rue du Stade and, at the crossroads, turn left onto Rue du Calvaire. Walk past the cemetery.

(1) At the crossroads, go straight ahead through the vineyards (leaving theGRP® Montagne de Reims).

(2) Continue straight ahead on the path that runs alongside the woods.

(3) At the crossroads in the woods, do not turn right or left, but continue straight ahead.

(4) When you reach Chemin du CBR, turn left. Continue straight ahead for about 2 km.

(5) At theGRP® andPR® junction, turn left towards Paramelle, a steeply climbing path.

(6) When you reach Route du Coutron, turn right and continue walking in the same direction until you reach Parking des Faux. Walk past the car park and continue to the road.

(7) Cross the road carefully and continue straight ahead. Follow the signs for Mont Sinaï.

(8) At the viewpoint, turn around.

(7) Turn right and follow the road for 50 metres.

(9) Before the car park entrance, turn right onto the path that runs behind the Saint-Basle forest house.

(10) Take the path on the left at the fork and join a carriage road.

(11) Turn left. Cross the road carefully. Walk across the Parking des Pins car park in the same direction and take the path that leads to Les Faux.

(12) When you reach a small forest road, turn right and walk 500 metres.

(13) Take the path on the right that passes near the Fau de Saint-Basle and the Chêne Fau (remarkable trees).

(14) Once on the Route Forestière des Pins, turn left. Follow this forest road to the junction with the Route Forestière du Grippet (278m) and turn opposite. After the crossroads, ignore the grassy path that branches off to the right (PR®), but take the next one on the right. Join thePR® and turn left. Continue along this forest road which crosses the Forêt Royale.

(15) At the crossroads, turn left and follow the PR®. You will cross an area that can be very wet in winter.

(16) At the crossroads by the calvary (high up, not very visible), turn right onto the path that descends towards Trépail. Continue in the same direction until you reach the vineyards, then continue straight ahead. You will arrive at the starting point (S/E).

A very beautiful hike with a trail that is easily accessible in summer. The car park was occupied by two motorhomes, so it wasn't very convenient to park there. As a result, I parked on the edge of the stadium.

Nice hike, but one small downside: too many long straights on forest roads in the second half, which makes it monotonous.

A very beautiful hike with a route that allows you to discover the Faux de Verzy at your own pace. For botany enthusiasts, in addition to the exceptional features of the Faux, I saw a cephalanthera (orchid) in the first wood after Trepail... and lily of the valley still in bloom.

Signage along the route is not always visible, so you sometimes find yourself hesitating! A pleasant, relatively easy route completed yesterday in beautiful sunshine.

Hike done yesterday, under bright sunshine. To avoid the slush, it's best to do the route in reverse, while the ground is still frozen. The section between 15 and 16 is wet, summer and winter alike.

I went back to the area yesterday. It's true, you can't see Reims, but there are beautiful views from Chamery, Sermiers, Rilly and Chigny.
I have amended my description.

Thank you for this kind review.

The beautiful view is actually from Mount Sinai. If Reims is not visible, I will correct it.

Mount Sinai is a lovely spot for a picnic. There are two tables in the car park of the same name.
