From Mormoiron to the Notre-Dame des Anges chapel

Start: Parking at the Mormoiron village hall car park.GPS: N 44.065917° / E 5.179545°

(S/E) Turn right into the road named "La venue de Mazan".
Follow this road uphill past the local school and then the gendarmerie.

(1) Just before reaching the top of the hill, turn left onto the stony Chemin des Fours, downhill through the vineyards, following the signs for the GRP^® des Pierres de Vaucluse.

(2) Reach the D942 and follow it to the right. Follow the road very carefully for 200 m along the shoulder. Be careful, as this road is very busy and visibility is poor.
At the entrance to Moulins des Gypes, cross the road and turn left into Chemin de Saint-Montant, crossing a bridge. Reach Mas de Sainte-Croix and turn left then right. Follow the GRP^® to Les Embœufs.

(3) Cross the farmyard and follow the wide track to the left. Then turn right onto the stony path leading uphill. Reach a small lookout called Les Petits Bœufs, with a sign pointing in several directions.

(4) Follow the signs for Mazan. Follow the rising path to the Chapelle Notre-Dame des Anges.

(5) After reaching the 16th-century building, start downhill on a wide, stony road to the Domaine Viticole des Anges.

(6) Turn left along the road into the Auzon valley. Turn left onto the Route de Canadel.

(7) Cross the D942 with caution (busy road) and go straight ahead. At the first fork in the road, turn left onto the rising Chemin du Fournet. Continue past the fire station and then the cemetery. Ignore the adjacent roads to reach the heart of Mormoiron village.

(8) Exit onto Avenue des Roches Blanches. Turn right, then left, into the "La venue de Mazan" once again, and follow it to the car park. (S/E)

Waymarkers: The route from Mormoiron to the summit of the Notre-Dame des Anges hill is signposted GRP^®. From the D942 road to (4) (Petits Bœufs) the route is relatively well signposted (red and yellow markings). Bear in mind, however, that you'll need to keep climbing, with the help of your GPS if necessary.

On the village's territory, you can visit the Lac des Salettes, ideal for swimming.

Nearby, you'll also find ancient ochre quarries.
