Description of the walk

Villes-sur-Auzon tennis court and campsite car park.

(S/E) With your back to the campsite, join the Chemin des Pierres and follow it uphill to the Reganéou plateau.

(1) Head towards the nature trail slightly to the right and leave the tarmac road. Follow the red and white markings to the plateau (signpost), ignoring the other paths.

(2) Turn left towards Balavard, join the tarmac road, follow it to the right, and after a few metres, leave the road and turn right onto the track slightly below. 250m after the bend, at the junction, turn left to rejoin the tarmac road. Cross it (signpost indicating La Lauze) to reach a large open area and a cistern.

(3) Head towards La Lauze along the track to the left of the tarmac road leading up to La Lauze; follow the track up until it crosses the tarmac road again. Cross the road and, directly opposite but slightly to the left, take a path leading up towards La Lauze. You’ll arrive at a signpost near the first houses in the hamlet.

(4) Head towards Passichaud, following the yellow markings, zigzagging between dry stone walls. When you reach the field of solar panels, follow the path that crosses them initially, then goes round them to the left to reach a junction.

(5) Continue to the right between the last panels, towards Les Peyrards (yellow markings) for about 600m.

(6) At Les Peyrards, continue left along the track to reach the Bergerie de Pié Gros, situated at the junction on the right of the track a few hundred metres further on.

(7) Leave the track and take the path on the right; further on, at a junction, ignore the two paths and take the path on the right which descends to the bottom of the valley through the ruins of sheepfolds.
Reach a track at a hairpin bend.

(8) Turn right onto this track and head uphill to return to Les Peyrards.

(6) Retrace your steps along the route you took on the way there to return to the Passichaud crossroads.

(5) Turn right to descend between the solar panels towards the Vallat de la Cénita. Ignore the trailheads to the right and left and continue straight on along a path that turns into a faint trail and leads to a track in the Vallat de la Cénita.

(9) Take the track on the right and head uphill to a hairpin bend. Turn left and continue uphill; you will reach the Aiguiers junction on a track.

(10) Take the track to the left and immediately pass to the right of the rain water reservoir carved into rock along a narrow path, then descend between the Aiguiers towards a pond. The Combe du Cerisier begins just behind the pond. Descend it to the Combe de l’Ermitage to rejoin the red and white markings ofthe GR®91.

(11) Continue to the left and descend the Combe de l’Ermitage, go through a tunnel and reach Reganéou.

(1). Continue straight ahead along the Chemin des Pierres and return to the car park at the Villes-sur-Auzon campsite (S/E).

A hike for two (with my second daughter) on a sunny, pleasant day; we used the Visorando app
to avoid getting lost when the written directions and map weren’t clear enough.

It’s a lovely walk with abundant Mediterranean flora that we did yesterday. There are also some stunning views of Mont Ventoux. As for the route description, it can be a bit tricky in places, particularly at point 10. It’s best to use the Visorando app on this walk to make sure you don’t go astray.

Average difficulty rating: 6 to 9. However, it’s a shaded walk without many views

We underestimated how long the hike would take, but the scenery was magnificent...
