(S) Departure from the bottom of the village of Mirabeau; there is a car park at the entrance to the village.
(1) Follow the signs for the Mirabeau bridge from the village centre via Rue Martial-Montagne, then turn left onto Rue de la Place. Turn left onto Rue de la Magdeleine (2) and take Chemin des Moulins to join the
GR® 9. Go down the deteriorated macadam road: on the right are the Grands Jardins, an old wind turbine and a children's playground.
The road descends gently to the D996, with the imposing Capon quarry on the right halfway down.
At the junction with the D996, turn right and follow the main road for a few dozen metres.
(3) Chapel alternative: Cross the main road and visit the Romanesque Sainte-Madeleine chapel overlooking the Durance riverbed.
Reach the new suspension bridge over the Durance and cross it via the pedestrian walkway. On the left, you will reach the south pillar of the old suspension bridge and the roadmender's house. (4) After seeing the sculptures at the roundabout, cross the modern bridge again.
Pass by the pillar of the old bridge on the Vaucluse side (clearly visible shell marks); follow the path along the banks of the Durance as far as you like, alongside the railway line. Return by the same route.
Alternative route in the village: Go around Mirabeau Castle by going up Rue Bassinet on the right, then right onto Rue du Château and Chemin de la Bonne Mère. After the castle entrance gate, on the right, take the drovers' road that passes by the old threshing floor. At the statue of the Virgin Mary, turn right to join Chemin des Moulins and then the village centre.
