From Lloret de Mar to Tossa de Mar along the Camino de Ronda

This route links Lloret de Mar to Tossa de Mar along the old coastal path "Camino de Ronda". It offers many panoramic views, as well as the crossing of numerous coves of varying steepness.

Warning : the off-GR® section has some fairly difficult stretches. It is, however, possible to keep to the GR® which circumnavigates Santa Maria de Lloret between points (3) and (12) but the latter passes inland, greatly reducing the
interest of this hike.

Description of the walk

Leave your car in one of the car parks near the Tossa de Mar bus station and catch the bus
to Lloret de Mar (approx. 1/2 hr). The tour starts from the Lloret de Mar bus station.

(S) On leaving the bus station, turn left onto Avenguda de Just Maries, which is also a variant of the GR®92 that we'll be following for much of the tour. Walk down this avenue to the beach. Turn left and continue along the beach, taking the Camino de Ronda, marked in red and white (GR®92). This perfectly laid-out path follows the coastline as closely as possible, then diverges slightly to pass through various housing estates, before returning to the Badia de Canyelles beach.

(1) Turn left. The path quickly rises. Continue to follow the red and white markings.

(2) Continue straight ahead: the GR® route has been modified and new markings are in place.

(3) Leave the GR® to the left and continue along the path in front of you, towards Cala Morisca beach. From this point onwards, the signposting to follow consists of white dots or lines at strategic points (few in number).

(4) Turn left.

(5) Take the stairs down to the beach, cross the beach (fording the torrent is not difficult) and climb back up over rocks.

(6) At the crossroads, go straight on.

(7) Descend towards the beach. The descent is very steep over slippery rocks, but fortunately there are several chains to keep your balance. When you reach the beach, take the path on the left and continue overlooking the beaches. Caution: the path has collapsed in places, but is still passable.

(8) End of this difficult section. Continue along the beach.

(9) Take the tunnel cut into the rock and continue along the beach.

(10) Leave the road on your left, and take the path that climbs rapidly through the woods.

(11) Shortly after this point, the Chemin de Ronde becomes impassable for ordinary hikers. I therefore advise you to leave it temporarily by taking the path to the left, which joins the GR® that you left earlier.

(12) Arrive on the GR® (red and white markings). Turn right and follow it for about 700 m.

(13) Leave the GR® again to take the Chemin de Ronde again (green markings) to Tossa de Mar. Descend to the old town, then return to the bus station (S/E)

Notes

Walking poles and good shoes essential.

Bring plenty of water, as there are no refreshment points on the route.

The use of a GPS is strongly recommended to find your way through the maze of housing
estates and on the non-GR® section, which is not well marked.

This hike should only be undertaken in good weather, as there is a risk of slipping or
rockfall.

Worth a visit

Numerous beaches crossed along the way.
Remarkable views.
The old town of Tossa de Mar on arrival.

Beware of difficult hikes, I personally missed the path with the chains and so I took a slightly longer but less dangerous road out of the woods at the top. I went back a bit on the route, the tunnel had reopened. A staircase leading down to the beach was out of order and I had to cross it despite the markers.
The path that goes up through the wood is difficult to see, so I preferred to go around it via the road that goes up that you're supposed to leave on your left and that leads to an open campsite. The path goes back to the top of this road that goes up, on the right, and you rejoin the itinerary a little further on. The road + path is much less dangerous for inexperienced people.
Very nice walking. Depending on the season, refreshments are available at a charge. You pass hotels and villas and the beaches have drinks nearby.

We did this walk in the direction of Tossa Lloret in October 2024.
Being a group of "mountaineers" it did not represent any particular difficulty for us.
On the other hand, someone who is not used to it and who is poorly equipped (shoes) may find the passage with the chains a little complicated, especially if this passage is made in the direction Lloret - Tossa (downhill).
The tunnel is indeed off-limits, but everyone goes through it ....
The descent (more so than the ascent) to Cala LLorell requires caution, as the path has been badly ravaged by the rain...
To sum up, a very nice stage, but not to be done in flip-flops!

Good evening and thank you for your comment. This hike dates back to 2021 and I haven't done it since.
Some of the sections were already difficult at the time and I don't think it's got any easier.
I'm going to reclassify it as very difficult.
However, in my opinion, it's better to do it in the direction I've indicated.
Thank you to future hikers for letting me know if it's still passable.

Good evening, we walked from Tossa to Lloret de mar. Concerning point 9 (tunnel cut in the rock) the passage is forbidden due to landslides. We went through anyway and walked along the beaches (superb beaches). When we got to the last beach, and following the visorando plan, we tried to climb on what looked like a path, but it was very difficult and above all dangerous. We had to make a U-turn, not without difficulty, and took the road back to one of the beaches to get back on the GR.

We did this walk in the opposite direction to the one suggested here.
We left the route at point 6 (we saw a sign in the distance saying "pedestrians not allowed").
We then took the GR as far as point 3.
We were surprised by the difficulty of the route (even though we're used to visorando's "difficult" hikes).
Passage 7 is very steep despite the ropes.
In our opinion, it's better to go up this passage than down it.
The scenery is magnificent, but you need to be on your toes!
Deserves a very difficult rating.
This hike should be avoided in wet weather.

A lovely walk that starts along the coastal path and quickly continues through the hamlets.
