Description of the walk

Access: La Ferté-sous-Jouarrestation on the Château-Thierry branch of the Transilien P (Paris-Est network).

The trail is marked with the red and white GR® markings.

(S) With your back to the station, take Rue de la Gare on the left for 150 m.

(1) Turn right onto Rue Michel Fauvet and continue straight ahead to the Charles de Gaulle Bridge over the Marne. Cross the bridge.

(2) Join the GR® trail and continue straight ahead along Rue du Faubourg. First turn left then right at Rue de Condé to take Rue du Guet opposite. Follow it to the right.

(3) Take the small path on the left that climbs into the woods, steeply at first, then more gently as you reach the top. Join a road, Rue du Lion, in a residential neighbourhood.

(4) Cross the D70 and continue opposite Chemin de la Bitorderie. Continue along the path that extends it and immediately turn right onto the small path that descends quite steeply. Shortly before the end of the descent, cross the Dhuys Aqueduct and join the D407 via the path that winds between the houses of Courcelles-sous-Jouarre.

(5) Cross the road carefully and continue along the path opposite until you reach Rue Solvet. Turn left, then left again onto Rue des Prés before turning 90° right onto Rue du Pont, towards Petit Morin. Cross the bridges over the river, then turn right in the middle of the village and continue for about 100 metres until you reach the Aqueduc de la Dhuys, which runs up the valley perpendicular to the road.

(6) Follow the aqueduct on the left as it climbs. Cross two roads and you will come to a perpendicular path, almost at the top.

(7) Take this path on the left, then follow the path furthest to the right 100 metres further on. Follow this path, which runs alongside the aqueduct at some distance, as you finish the climb. Continue straight ahead, leaving a path on the right, and join the road at the entrance to Jouarre. Follow it for 150 metres.

(8) Take Rue du Chemin Vert on the left, then the path that branches off to the right into the fields. Continue along a power line, pass a path coming from the right and arrive at a crossroads under the power line. Take the path on the left to reach the hamlet of Romeny.

(9) Cross Rue de la Mare, continue straight on to Grande Rue, then continue along Ruelle Albert Besnard. Continue to the end of the lane and then along the path that extends it. Reach Rue du Cloud on the other side and turn left. Return to Grande Rue, which is quite busy, and follow it to the right for about 100 metres.

(10) Then take the path that veers to the left and joins the woods on the hillside of the valley. Follow the path that turns right until you reach a T-junction. Then take the path that descends to the left. Cross a road and continue downhill until you reach a campsite.

(11) Turn right to walk along the campsite and reach the Choisel mill on the banks of a small stream.

(12) Turn left in front of the mill, then cross the stream. Take the path on the left that appears shortly afterwards. Follow its curve to the right, ignoring another path coming from the left, and continue along the valley floor for 600 metres.

(13) Take the path on the right that climbs perpendicularly up to the road.

(14) Carefully cross the D204 and take the small road opposite. Cross Les Petits Montgoins, ignoring a perpendicular road, and continue straight ahead. La Butte de Doue is visible opposite, slightly to the left, in your line of sight. Turn left at the three-way junction, pass under the power line and join the Chevrie farm ahead.

(15) Turn left onto the path in front of the building. Pass under the power line again. At the next three-way junction, take the path on the right to pass under the power line one last time. Continue straight ahead for about 2 km towards the hill, crossing a road halfway. You will arrive at the castle at the foot of the hill.

(16) Take the road on the right that climbs up the hill. Pass the cemetery and the church at the top.

(17) Descend on the other side along the path that continues from the road as it turns right. Walk alongside the sports fields and playgrounds as you descend. Join Rue de la Butte and arrive in the centre of Doue.

(18) Take the street on the right, then after 50 metres take the path that branches off to the left between the houses. Follow it as it bends to the right, then to the left until you reach Rue de la Croissette on the other side. Follow this street to the left for 300 metres, ignoring the streets that branch off to the left.

(19) Turn right onto Rue du Pont de Pierre, which quickly becomes a farm track. Cross a small stream, then turn left at the next T-junction. Cross a road and continue until you reach the end of the hamlet of Croupet.

(20) Turn left onto the tarmac road, cross the residential hamlet and turn right at the end of the street. Follow it for 200 metres before taking the path on the right that runs alongside the road at some distance. You will reach the centre of Saint-Germain-sous-Doue after a kilometre.

(21) Take Rue Saint-Pierre on the left to the church, then turn right onto Rue de l'Église and continue for 200 metres.

(22) At the next crossroads, take Rue Saint-Côme, the third street on the right, continuing in the same south-south-west direction. Continue across the fields, ignoring the various paths that cross, until you reach a T-junction.

(23) Take the path on the right, then the one on the left after 100 m, then another one on the left after 400 m to take a path that goes downhill. Continue to the three-way junction halfway down the slope.

(24) Take the path that branches off to the right, also descending towards the stream. Cross the stream and climb up opposite in the same direction. Cross a wood, turning right at the T-junction.

(25) At the edge of the woods, take the path on the right towards Speuse, a hamlet of Boissy-le-Châtel. Then take the road on the right, follow its bend to the left and cross the centre of the hamlet for 200 metres.

(26) Continue along the path to the left. After 600 m across the fields, you will come to another T-junction.

(27) Take the path on the right downhill, then the one on the left on the road, and again on the left on the path that goes uphill. Take the path on the left at the three-way junction, ignore another path coming from the right, and take the next one 200 m further on the right. You will then come to another T-junction.

(28) Take the straight path on the right and follow it downhill to the Ruisseau de l'Orgeval stream. Cross it and you will come to a wider path on the other side.

(29) Take the path furthest to the left, cross a first perpendicular road at the top of the hill and reach a second one a little further on, at the entrance to Coulommiers. Continue straight ahead on Rue des Ouches.

(30) At the end of the street, take Avenue de Lattre de Tassigny on the left, then immediately after, turn left again onto Rue Verte, which descends.

(31) Shortly before reaching the bottom, take the path on the right that crosses the small urban wood. Turn left after 400 m, then right immediately afterwards. Reach the narrow passage at the end, then take the stairs on the left to reach Avenue de Rebais. Take it on the right towards the church.

(32) Go around the church on your left to reach the banks of the Grand Morin.

(33) Take the footbridge over the river on the right and enter Parc des Capucins. Follow the path between the river and the castle moat, and reach the garden opposite. Cross the garden towards the south and the park entrance at the bridge over the Fausse Rivière.

(34) Leave the park and turn right onto Rue Marcel Clavier, continuing to the roundabout in front of the station. Head to the station on the left.

Return: Coulommiersstation , terminus of the Coulommiers branch of the Transilien P

This is a fairly long stage crossing large isolated areas. Although it does not present any particular technical difficulties, there are a few fairly steep but short climbs. Please also note that much of the stage does not pass through shaded areas. Avoid periods of high heat. In any case, be sure to prepare accordingly.
