Description of the walk

Start near the summit of Mont Bonnet. There’s no problem parking along the road near the crossroads.

(S/E) With your back to the car park, set off along theGR® 532 and you’ll come to a fork in the path.

(1) Turn left onto the path marked with a Yellow Rectangle or a Blue Ring, walking past two ponds on your left and then two more on your right. Ignore the Blue Ring-marked path that branches off to the right and continue to a fork in the path by another pond.

(2) Turn left and take the path marked with a Red Ring or Green Disc, leading to a road.

(3) Continue along the road, pass a car park and come out onto the D51. Continue to the left until you reach the Saint-Nicolas Chapel.

(4) After your visit, turn back and head for the junction you passed on the way there.

(3) Carry on along the small road to the right which leads to Étuffont. Pass by the Ferme Bègue and continue along this same road to reach the hamlet known as Les Échancées.

(5) Shortly afterwards, near a chicken farm, turn left onto a path and follow thePR® route marked with a Yellow Ring until you reach a side path.

(6) Turn right and join a local road at a bend. Continue along this road to return to the starting point (S/E).

I had a bit of trouble getting started, but I found it! Follow the sign for the Mont Bonnet neighbourhood and you'll get there. I parked near the orientation table, after the Mont Bonnet farm, and hesitated a little. There were two signs, one for the Mont Bonnet tour and one for the Mont Marty tour, and it was in that direction. Otherwise, it was easy to follow the directions, which were very clear (I often get annoyed when I'm out walking because, let's say, I don't understand the directions 🤪), but here, wow, it was great. I hardly saw anyone, it was beautiful! Magnificent views, water all along the way, my dog was delighted. Thank you for this very nice walk.

A brilliant route, finishing in the hamlet of St Nicolas; the return journey is along a small road, which isn’t quite as pleasant as the outward leg through the woods.
